Ep. 20 – Man is a Hoax

Alan Watts Being in the Way

NOTE

Myth of Man's Place in the World

The prevailing myth in the 19th century philosophy was that the universe is blind energy and that man's intelligence and values are merely a fluke, a joke, or a chance in this world. This perspective suggests that man is not a symtom of the world but an outlier who doesn't really belong. As a result, the 19th century myth of man's place in the world has become the common sense for the West, leading people to believe in the fully automatic model of the universe where man's existence is insignificant.
