The body manages the balance between tissue repair and tumor growth by limiting the total number of cells each cell line can produce. This limitation prevents the continuous production of young tissue, which could lead to an overgrowth of tumors before reproduction can occur. This elegant solution ensures that even if a cell mutates and loses its regulation for growth, it will eventually stop dividing after reaching a set limit, thereby controlling tumor development.
