The Emergence of Ideas

Idea emergence happens when a person gathers diverse notes from various fields and domains, which eventually culminate into a cohesive theory to be shared. Rather than the linear process of diverging and converging ideas, it is more like being in a primordial soup of ideas, where encounters with various ideas continue to inform and shape future works. Throughout history, note making involved putting down one's own thoughts and reasons for saving something, as opposed to just copying or capturing the thoughts of others. However, in the modern age, society has shifted from being note makers to note takers, leading to an over consumption of information similar to an 'over collection epidemic.'
