Building Identity and Sin in a Secular World
In a secular world, sin manifests as the construction of identity without reference to God, leading to ingratitude and self-entitlement. The essence of sin is to live without acknowledging a higher authority, which results in self-definition and the rejection of divine design. In modern culture, there is a rejection of settled convictions and boundaries, leading to radical self-expression without divine guidance. The idea of being told how to live your life is viewed as oppressive, and people are suspicious of metanarratives or any form of guidance on lifestyle. Despite opposing metanarratives, individuals are creating their own by basing their identity on various aspects like work, sexuality, status, or politics.
