Human Mating Strategies and Behavior - men align around the alpha male
Men benefit from aligning with high-performing individuals as seen in the context of hunting. Similar to leking behavior in some animal species, human males tend to gather around high-status men who attract females, similar to how frogs gather to attract mates with their croaking. This behavior is known as choice copying, where women may perceive hidden qualities in men who are not conventionally attractive, such as assuming they are rich or have a great personality. The larger the gap in attractiveness between a woman and a man, the more women might perceive exceptional qualities in the man. It is suggested that hiring a beautiful woman to accompany an average-looking man to clubs can make him appear more desirable and attract more attention than a more attractive man with the same woman.
