The Rest Is History

NOTE

Survival on the Titanic

Access to the boat deck determined survival on the Titanic. First-class passengers had closer proximity, more stewards, and earlier access. Gates were initially closed, unintentionally blocking third-class passengers for about 45 minutes. Large families were at higher risk due to reluctance to separate. 74.3% of women, 52.3% of children, and only 20% of men survived. First-class women had the highest survival rate at 97%, while third-class had only 47%, possibly due to their location on the ship.
