Model Scale and Reliability: Balancing Capability and Inference Costs
The current generation of scale has seen significant improvements in capability. Models are becoming more reliable and able to perform a wider range of tasks. They also gain deeper insights into the true nature of the human world. However, when using smaller models, reliability is often compromised. The trade-off between model size, specialized fine-tuning, and reliability exists. Smaller models are suitable for specific applications, while larger models unlock new and valuable applications. Both have their place in the evolving landscape of AI models.
