The Illusion of Consciousness
In our everyday lives, we often assume that the ground is solid, but at the atomic level, it is actually mostly empty space. Similarly, if we argue that a neurobiological description invalidates subjective experiences, we could question the validity of neurons being made up of molecules, and molecules being made up of quarks and gluons. This opens up the possibility that there is no ultimate method of understanding reality, and that a pluralistic approach, considering reality from different angles and scales, is needed. Phenomenal consciousness should be an important aspect considered in this process.
