It is acceptable to care about others' legacy, but one should differentiate between caring and carrying it. One can support a legacy without taking on the entire burden. Making tough decisions regarding a legacy involves understanding that there are costs involved, whether financial or emotional, and choosing which cost one is more willing to bear. Ultimately, there is no wrong choice as long as it brings peace to oneself.
