The Rise of Napoleon
How to Take Over the World
Canister Shot, Napolean's Views on Warfare, and Meeting Josephine
Canister shot was used as a devastating weapon at close range, wiping out swathes of people. Napoleon believed in using harsh measures to suppress insurrections early on, rather than letting them escalate into full-on wars. This philosophy proved successful as only a few of his men died, about 300 revolutionaries were killed, and the rebellion dissolved. This victory led to Napoleon's promotion and rise to power. It was during this time that he met Josephine, a woman from an aristocratic French family with whom he developed a close relationship, giving her the nickname 'rose'. Josephine's first husband abandoned the family and was later guillotined for royalist sympathies.
