The Martyr Made Podcast

NOTE

First battle sparked

A few months before the battle of Tell Hi, Arab militias offered an alliance to Jewish settlements against the French. However, the Zionists rejected the offer as they believed they were safe under British protection. The battle itself, while just a gunfight between two gangs, symbolizes the complex and contentious relationship between Jews and Arabs. After the battle, both sides had different versions of what happened, further fueling the animosity. The conflict eventually led to the establishment of the independent Arab kingdom of Syria, which was met with resistance from the French. Faisal, the King of Syria, was reluctant to enter into conflict but was carried along by events.
