Conspiracy theorists join like-minded groups online to fulfill their basic human desires for identity and belonging. The internet, although young, is rapidly evolving, and new solutions must be developed to address the problem of online echo chambers. By focusing on belief before belonging, we may be starting the conversation in the wrong place.
