Desires operate in a lose-lose situation as fulfilling them diminishes motivation. When desires are satisfied, motivation decreases as the driving force is eliminated. Additionally, if desires are not promptly fulfilled, the brain calculates if the effort is worth the value; if not, motivation is cancelled. Ultimately, fulfilling desires can lead to a decline in motivation and hamper progress towards achieving greatness.
