AI research aims to demystify and make AI interpretable as it becomes more integrated into our world. Researchers are working on deciphering existing AI systems and building more explainable ones. However, both approaches are proving to be extremely challenging and progress is slow. The complexity of AI models based on the brain contributes to the difficulty.
AI has the potential to impact our society in dramatic ways, but researchers can’t explain precisely how it works or how it might evolve. Will they ever understand it?
