Meaning is Never Fixed

Effective communication requires speakers to adopt a pretense of stability in word meanings, despite the inherent complexities of language. This necessity stems from a concept called logo centrism, where speakers must act as if words have consistent, concrete meanings connected to ultimate concepts or 'transcendental signifieds.' However, the philosophical pursuit to link words directly to their referents is fundamentally flawed; words are far more complex and often exceed the intended meanings, illustrating that language is inherently ambiguous and multifaceted.
