NOTE

Exploring the Structure and Content of the Book on the Aztecs

Cammy has written many books, and we're going to discuss one now. The book covers the history of the Aztecs, starting chronologically from the pre-conquest period. Each chapter begins with a vignette about a person from history, helping to create a narrative thread. The first two chapters explore the story of Shieldflower, a daughter of a Mexica chief taken in war. While the exact details may not be literal, these stories provide insight into the world of the Aztecs. The foundation of Tenochtitlan is also discussed, with the story of an eagle guiding the settlers. While the exact events may be debatable, the settlement did occur, possibly due to practical reasons. Overall, these stories give us a glimpse into the Aztec civilization while allowing room for interpretation.
