Fiber Is Better Than Probiotics

To improve gut health, focus on not overeating, exercising regularly, and consuming fiber, which acts as a prebiotic. Prebiotics are more effective than probiotics for promoting gut health. Soluble fiber is particularly beneficial, as it can be fermented by gut microbiota to produce short chain fatty acids that have positive effects on insulin sensitivity. Supplementing with butyrate, a type of short chain fatty acid, has been shown to have positive effects on insulin sensitivity.
