The combination of water, blood, and spirit is essential for rebirth and atonement. Through baptism, one keeps the commandment and is born again into the kingdom of heaven. Justification comes through the spirit, while sanctification is through the atoning blood of Christ. The spirit and the atonement work together to enter the soul, both justifying and sanctifying individuals. This understanding emphasizes the importance of internalizing the atonement through the influence of the Holy Ghost.
Dr. Kerry Muhlestein continues to explore obtaining and retaining the sanctifying power of the Holy Ghost and following the gospel of Jesus Christ.
