The fast coding capabilities of AI enhance the need for well-designed systems, like database schemas, which are challenging to modify post-implementation. Some tech companies attempt to streamline management by cutting middle management roles, mistakenly believing direct oversight from top-level executives will suffice; however, this can lead to ineffective governance. Excessive direct reports may create chaos or dictatorial environments, as exemplified by initial practices at Google, culminating in a need for balance between creativity and essential operational tasks. Failure to manage this balance can result in achieving innovative projects while neglecting necessary but less glamorous responsibilities, such as customer support.
