Catholic Voting Principles and The Lesser of Two Evils in Elections

Catholics are not required to endorse everything a candidate says or does when voting, but should aim to promote the greatest good possible. It is not obligatory to vote for a third-party candidate if both major candidates are deemed unfavorable. In the American first-past-the-post election system, where only two main contenders have a real chance of winning, it is acceptable to vote for the lesser of two evils to prevent a worse evil from taking office.
