Truth Distorts with Time
In moments of distress, individuals often distort their memories, leading to divergent narratives about their experiences. This distortion occurs as negative moments are revisited, becoming increasingly altered over time. Cognitive bias further complicates this by causing the brain to confuse fabricated trauma with genuine experiences, resulting in physiological responses akin to those of real trauma, regardless of the situation's legitimacy. Despite these challenges, neuroplasticity offers hope, allowing individuals to actively rewire their thought patterns and recognize and address their broken mental narratives by intentionally reshaping their internal soundtracks.
