Evolution of Cannabis and its Components
Cannabis has evolved with genetic manipulation leading to higher THC levels. Modern cannabis contains over 20-30% THC in contrast to low single digits in the past. Growers manipulate plants to create type one, two, and three hybrids based on THC to CBD ratios. CBD, a non-psychoactive cannabinoid, is believed to have medical benefits, supported by studies like an effective seizure medicine derived from CBD. However, research on cannabis is hindered due to its Schedule 1 drug classification.
