Perfectionism and burnout often stem from childhood experiences and can hinder delegation and collaboration in leadership roles. The fear of rejection and the need for everything to be perfect prevent leaders from delegating tasks and allowing others to grow. This fear also leads to a reluctance to surround oneself with team members who may be smarter or more competent. People in leadership positions are often driven by perfectionism and overachievement, which may lead to burnout and an inability to effectively manage their own energy, let alone others'. True leadership is about focusing on people, not just tasks. Leaders should prioritize managing themselves first before managing others to be effective in their roles.
