Alzheimer's Disease: A Form of Brain Diabetes

Alzheimer's disease is being compared to a form of diabetes of the brain, with links to peripheral insulin resistance. The more insulin resistant a person is, the more challenges their brain faces in creating ATP, the primary energy currency of cells. Suzanne de La Monte, a Brown University researcher, coined the term type 3 diabetes in reference to Alzheimer's disease.
