Credentials like college degrees are seen as proof of following direction, rather than a demonstration of genuine knowledge or skill. The system aims to certify individuals can conform to norms and become worker bees, rather than encouraging personal accountability and innovative thinking. Consequently, individuals should not be deterred by societal pressures or criticism when pursuing different paths, as long as they are progressing and taking charge of their lives.
