"Last Days" Theology and the Power of the Early Church

As a child, I believed that miracles should happen more often, but I was taught that they couldn't happen today. Even as my theology changed, I still couldn't make sense of why the power of miracles would be limited. Some people said that miracles couldn't happen in America because we weren't persecuted and didn't live communally like those in the past. I started believing them, but when I read Acts 2 and saw how devoted the early Christians were to each other and the miracles they experienced, I couldn't help but wonder why we weren't experiencing the same. They shared everything and took care of each other. It was something that seemed both amazing and unreal.
