Understanding the Different Levels of Agitation in Patients

Agitation can be categorized into three levels of severity. The first group is agitated but cooperative, causing minimal trouble. The second group is disruptive but not dangerous, consisting of intoxicated or mentally ill patients who require calming medications. The standard cocktail is 5 mg haloperidol and 2 mg lorazepam, but there are more effective options available. The third group is the most important, although they are rarely seen in most departments.
