Katniss realizes the importance of accepting that her life will never be the same after experiencing trauma. She tries to convince herself that things will go back to normal, but deep down she knows it's just a coping mechanism. This is a relatable human response to trauma, as we often create narratives that make us feel more comfortable. However, unlike soldiers, police, and firefighters who have set limits and know when their contribution ends, victims of injustice have no end in sight. This lack of closure leads to societal unrest and the realization that the systems meant to be fair are broken and unfair.
Every revolution starts with a spark! In this episode we examine the various responses to trauma we see in the main characters of this film: Katniss, Peeta, Gale, Haymitch, Johanna, and Finnick. We also discuss systems of oppression and compare and contrast the world of Panem to the riots and protests happening in our world now. We hope you enjoy the episode and leave us a rating and a review! May the odds ever be in your favor!
