Gendered Toy Preference and Parental Inclination
Research suggests that the preference for certain toys by children, such as dolls or trucks, is linked to a greater parental inclination, particularly in females. Despite the lack of clear evolutionary rationale for toy differences, it remains one of the largest sex differences besides sexual orientation. Children raised in gender conforming or nonconforming households still exhibit the same sex differences in toy preference, with those from nonconforming households showing more tolerance towards gender nonconformity.
