8-Step Process for Maximum Efficacy

  • Core Insight: Tim Ferriss's 8-step process for maximizing efficacy (doing the right things).
  • Relevance: Productivity, product management
  • Process:
    • Wake up at least 1 hour before screen time.
    • Make tea, sit with pen and paper.
    • Write 3-5 things making you most anxious (often the most important/uncomfortable).
    • For each item: IF this were the only thing accomplished today, would I be satisfied? AND IF moving this forward makes other to-dos easier, THEN keep.
    • Focus only on items you answered "yes" to.
    • Block 2-3 UNINTERRUPTED hours for ONE item.
    • IF distracted, gently return to the task.
  • Additional points:
    • Doing something well doesn't make it important.
    • Being busy can be lazy thinking/indiscriminate action (avoiding important actions).
