Mitigating the Problem of Overinviting in Meetings

The over-inviting problem in meetings arises because of the fear of leaving people out and offending them. This leads to too many participants, many of whom are just spectators. To address this issue, we need to establish norms and make it clear that not inviting someone is a respect decision, not a personal one. Additionally, we should have conversations with individuals who don't need to attend a particular meeting and offer to keep them in the loop for future meetings. Bloated meetings are not inclusive but rather a performance. This problem is more common in organizations with agreeable cultures.
