Reality is objectively improving, yet happiness remains relatively constant as it is based on individual expectations rather than circumstances. Luxuries often become necessities, leading to a perpetual cycle. Despite human advancement in power over history, translating power into happiness remains a challenge, evident by a lack of significant increase in happiness compared to the Stone Age.
