Musk and Trump's Big Breakup: America's Sweethearts Calling it Quits

When Musk started working with Trump last year, we all knew it was only a matter of time before they had a big, messy, public split-up. We waited and we waited. Dear listener, the day has arrived. Today, June 5th, 2025, Donald Trump and Elon Musk have spent the day tearing each other apart on social media. It has been personal and it has been viscius, with all the drama of a big celebrity break-up or a Real Housewives reunion. So at the last minute, we decided to skip our regularly-scheduled News Roundup, and instead do an emergency episode about this extraordinary turn of events. Bridget and Producer Mike recap how the Musk-Trump bromance got started, how it unravelled so spectacularly over the past couple days, and what this fight between billionaires really means for the future of Democracy in America. It’s been grim times for folks on the left, and I think we’ve all earned the right to kick back and enjoy the drama as these two dangerous narcissists try to destroy each other. Why Trump’s Kennedy Center Takeover Matters

Culture has always had the power to move people. To shift narratives. To shape politics. Which is why when Bridget heard that one of Trump’s first moves after taking office was to take over the Kennedy Center — Washington D.C.'s premiere venue for performing arts — she had questions. Why would Trump care about a cultural institution best known for theater, music, and the arts? If you ask Carri Twigg — co-founder of Culture House Media, co-host of Twig and Jenkins, and a former member of President Biden’s Advisory Committee on the Arts that oversees the Kennedy Center — the answer is: a lot. In her Rolling Stone piece, "Trump’s Cultural Power Grab: Why His Kennedy Center Takeover Matters," Carri breaks down just how influential culture is — not just in politics, but in shaping hearts, minds, and futures. In this fascinating interview, Bridget and Carri talk about the enduring importance of cultural power, and how the left can reclaim culture as a force for justice and progress.  Read Carri's article in Rolling Stone: www.rollingstone.com/politics/political-commentary/trump-kennedy-center-cultural-power-grab-1235268600/  Subscribe to Carri's Substack: substack.com/@carritwigg  Follow Carri on Instagram: instagram.com/carritwigg/    Follow Bridget and TANGOTI!   instagram.com/bridgetmarieindc/   tiktok.com/@bridgetmarieindc   youtube.com/@ThereAreNoGirlsOnTheInternet   See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

SignalGate Jeopardized Her Husband's Life - Her Viral Response Struck a Chord

When news broke that Trump’s senior military leadership had used an unsecured group chat to share sensitive information, the consequences were more than political—they were personal. For Kendall Brown, content creator, digital strategist, and a military spouse, the scandal known as SignalGate hit home: her husband’s life was directly endangered by the breach in protocol. Outraged, Kendall recorded a video of herself calling her senator’s office and demanding accountability. The clip went viral, drawing major media attention—and a wave of backlash. But while the threats and hate came in fast, Kendall, known for her sharp wit and thick skin, was more irritated by how unoriginal and not funny the trolls were. In this candid and surprisingly funny conversation with Bridget, Kendall shares what it’s like to live with the real-life consequences of political negligence. They dive into her experience as a military spouse, the realities of online activism, and what many get wrong about military families.   Follow Kendall on TikTok: @kendallybrownRead more: Military Wife Rips Hegseth for Risking ‘Husband’s Life’ in Viral Video – The Daily Beast   Follow Bridget across the internet: IG @BridgetMarieInDC   TikTok @BridgetMarieInDC   YouTube: ThereAreNoGirlsOnTheInternet See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
