Living with Passion w/ Wess Stafford EP 48

Life is too short to live it without purpose. Wess Stafford has an amazing story and a challenging message for us all! Dr. Wess Stafford, President Emeritus of Compassion International, is an internationally recognized advocate for children in poverty. Wess’ life experiences have uniquely prepared him for this role. With earned undergraduate degrees from Moody Bible Institute, Biola University and a master’s degree from Wheaton College, as well as a Ph.D. from Michigan State University, Wess often says, “Everything I really need to know to lead a multinational organization I learned from the poor, growing up in an African village.” As the son of missionaries to the Ivory Coast, Wess grew up as one of the village children cared for by a wise and loving African “extended family.” But his young heart was often broken as he watched his African friends die from the cruel ravages of poverty. Wess felt privileged to continue his parents’ commitment to the poor through the ministry of Compassion International. Wess joined the staff of Compassion International in 1977 and worked with the ministry, both overseas and at headquarters. He served as President for 20 years. Wess is a veteran, having served four years in the U.S. Army as a linguist in military intelligence. He is also an avid outdoorsman and committed family man, living on a small ranch near Colorado Springs, Colorado, with his wife Donna who was a Compassion sponsor even before she met Wess. They have two daughters, Jenny and Katie — the two children in the world for whom Wess is the greatest advocate of all. Living with Life's Limps w/ Dwayne Pickett EP 46

Dwayne Pickett is a Father, Husband and Visioneer Order his book, Living with Life's Limps on Amazon! Dr. Dwayne K. Pickett, Sr. is senior pastor of New Jerusalem Church of Jackson, MS since March 1996.  Under Pastor Pickett’s godly leadership; his obedience to Christ; and his philosophy of team ministry, NJC has grown from less than 200 to more than 7000 members.  God has blessed NJC to conduct multiple services at multiple locations in Jackson-Metro area. The vision employed at NJC is to minister to the needs of the whole man (mankind) to develop devoted disciples of Christ. This vision encompasses a host of ministries within the church and in collaboration with other ministries within the community, in the state, and in the global community.    Pastor Pickett, an educator by trade, founded New Jerusalem Christian School (NJCS) in 1997.  NJCS currently consists of 2 preschools, an academy, and 2 after schools at its various campuses.  NJCS educates children from 6 weeks to 6 grade.   A native of the small town of Itta Bena in the Mississippi Delta, Dwayne graduated from Terry High School in Terry, MS. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Southern Mississippi in May 1994; a Master of Education in Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi in May 1995; a Master of Arts in Christian Education from Reformed Theological Seminary (Jackson, MS) in 2000; and a Doctor of Philosophy in Christian Education from New Orleans Baptist Seminary in May of 2011.    Dwayne is married to Tracy Evans of Laurel, MS since May 1991.  The Picketts have five sons – Julian (Elyane), Kendedrick, Malcolm (Nikeya), Dwayne, Jr., and Keishun. They also have two beautiful granddaughters: Maleah and Nylah.   In addition to preaching and teaching weekly at New Jerusalem, Pastor Pickett has been a guest preacher nationally and internationally.  Also, he has trained leaders for churches, businesses, and foreign governments. Past service includes his roles as Executive Director of the General Missionary Baptist State Convention Youth Department and Director of Christian Education for the Southern Regional Youth Conference. He also hosted monthly weekend men’s retreat for more than 4 years, where he taught Bible study on biblical manhood along with Dr. John Perkins. Pastor Pickett has also been commissioned by the Christian Men’s Network to train men worldwide. Recently, he was appointed to oversee leadership development for the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship.   Pastor Pickett’s civic service includes successfully chairing the steering committee for a Hinds County Bond Issue of $21.5 million; enlistment in the Army National Guard, including a tour of duty in Desert Storm/Desert Shield (September 1990 to December 1991); and serving as assistant principal at Brinkley Middle School in Jackson.    Ultimately, it is Pastor Pickett’s belief that in order to operate a KINGDOM church there are four phases that must be in operation at all times : 1) educational empowerment, 2) evangelistic empowerment, 3) economic empowerment (breaking the curse of poverty), and 4) experiencing God fully through the Holy Spirit in His church.  Dwayne K. Pickett, Sr. is simply a humble servant seeking to build God’s Kingdom by making disciples for His glory.
