The Full Capacity Man, The Calm Man EP 476

The Calm Man sets the tone around him. A hot tempered man sets everyone else on pins and needles. Which are you?  For the overseer must…not (be) quick-tempered. —Titus 1:7 Keep calm and carry on.” —Great Britain Poster, 1939 “Stay calm. EXHALE. Squeeze. Follow through.” —Taped about my bow grip Don’t sin by letting anger control you. Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry. — Ephesians 4:26, “Anyone can hold the helm when the sea is calm.” —Publilius Syrus This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God. — James 1:19-20  www.meninthearena.org Men in the Arena Books and Swag Support the Podcast

Getting Back Up After Being Hit by a Train w/ Matt Hughes EP 475

What do you do when life knocks you down? UFC fighter Matt Hughes joined us to tell his story of perseverance despite difficult circumstances. Matt Hughes is widely considered among the greatest fighters in the history of MMA. He is a two-time UFC Welterweight Champion, UFC Hall of Fame inductee, and NJCAA Hall of Fame inductee. Matt ended his UFC career 45-9. During his tenures in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Hughes put together two separate six-fight winning streaks, defeated all the available opposition in the welterweight division, and defended the belt a then-record seven times. In May 2010, Hughes became the eighth inductee into the UFC Hall of Fame. During his reign, Hughes was considered the #1 pound-for-pound mixed martial artist in the world. He was also regarded by many as one of the greatest welterweight fighters of all time, as well as one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters in the sport's history. In 2008, Hughes published his autobiography, 'Made in America,' which made the New York Times bestseller list.  I love this part, “Hughes has no nickname, although because of his successes against Gracie Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioners such as Royce Gracie, Renzo Gracie, Ricardo Almeida, and Matt Serra, people often refer to him as "the Gracie Killer". The Full Capacity Man, The Witness EP 474

What do people in your community say about your witness? Do your actions show that you are a "Christian?" An overseer, then…must have a good reputation with those outside the Church so that he will not fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.                            —1 Timothy 3:7 “In the midst of a world screaming for answers, Christians are stuttering.”                                      —Howard Hendricks You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the Lord.                  —Leviticus 19:18 “No one will receive Christ through you who will not receive you first.”                                                —Joseph Aldrich, Gentle Persuasion The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”    —Mark 12:31 www.meninthearena.org Men in the Arena Books and Swag Support the Podcast
