86: What Are These Sneaky Scents In Skincare Products?

Scent in beauty products is a touchy subject, but even those that don't have a scent sometimes incorporate aroma molecules to delete their natural odors. We have cosmetic chemist and co-founder of Dieux Skin Joyce De Lemos on the pod to science at us about masking fragrances, skincare formulations, and the misconceptions and villainization of fragrance (and chemicals in general) especially when it comes to beauty/body products. 84: Absolutely VABulous

Before there was Secretions Magnifique, there were magnificent secretions — that aromatic cocktail made by one's own body-ody-ody and it has been dubbed "vabbing" (a portmanteau of vagina and dabbing).  Wearing one's own snail trail as a perfume to pull goes in and out of the zeitgeist, and thanks to TikTok it has been yanked back into it once more. Your hosts graciously, articulately, and elegantly explain the ins and outs of vabbing and its misleading philosophies with whatever science has found so far for us — including debunking human sex pheromones, destigmatizing vaginal odors, and other sensical items. 83: Ice Cream Doesn't Have A Scent... Until Now

Did you know that ice cream does not have a scent? Neither did we. Well someone decided to do something about it, I guess, and here we are. Salt & Straw, premium ice creamery hailing from Portland, OR has teamed up with premium fragrance makers Imaginary Authors (also from Portland) to make edible fragrances you can spray on your ice cream to enhance the experience of your pint plundering. We tried to mute as much of the mouth sounds as possible in this experiential episode but we had to give you a live taste-smell sesh for the occasion. 82: When Woo Girls Waft By

Summer officially drops today, and it's party girl season and thusly the party girl scents will soon fill the atmosphere in a cloud of girl-smell, boy-smell, and them-smell. It's the season of really going for it and putting that atomizer through its paces. What IS a party girl scent, you ask? Not a simple answer, but you'll know it when you smell it. We certainly do. And so does this episode. 81: Overheard At The Fragrance Duty-Free

It's vacation season or whatever, which got us thinking about travel scents and the smells of some vacations we've had — you know, all those unfamiliar and exciting smells far from home. Tynan has a designated vacation scent, and Sable  likes finding new smells when elsewhere. Other tangents include but are not limited to: Why Pride month and all these dedicated months are a little cringe, "Clean girl" beauty, that D.S. & Durga NFP, country music, and something something conspiracy. So yeah, it's one of those episodes. 80: The Fragrance Born From REVENGE

The mysterious, Canadian fragrance brand Persons Of Interest has a habit of popping up in all kinds of good-smell convos by those in the know. Their non-descript bottles bear compelling titles like Sex & Cigarettes, Buried Past, and Two Wolves that speak for themselves. We spoke with the brand founder Dino Caracciolo all about his initial successful men's grooming and skincare line, how a retail rejection prompted a revenge fragrance brand, and the takeoff success of that brand without  the traditional pushy marketing that so many fragrance brands must rely on for exposure.  [What we smell like today: Aedes De VEnustas Corfu Kumquat, Byredo Bibliotheque] Follow us on Instagram @smellyalater.mp3 and find us online at our website: smellyalater.live Find more info, episodes, and merch at Smellyalater.live Leave us a voice message on the SYL Hotline at Speakpipe.com/smellyalater and we may respond on a future episode. 79: Wearing Scent (Manipulatively)

Now that another Memorial Day has been memorialized, that means it's officially summer — the season of skin. And smelling  scents on other people's skin. So, that got us thinking... what kinds of scents do people compliment the most? And what do they have in common? How do certain scents develop a reputation beyond their intended context? And most importantly, what scents can we wear  manipulatively for nefarious or promiscuous purposes? Here are our personal findings, from our experience. 78: The Art Gallery You Can Sniff

If you've ever wondered why scent isn't incorporated into other experiential endeavors like cinema, museums, reenactments, or  performance itself, you are not alone. However, Andreas Keller, owner and curator of Olfactory Art Keller  decided to make it real, with a downtown gallery in NYC dedicated to the art of smell. He tells us all about it in this episode, as well as how and why everyone smells things differently (something he learned from fruit flies), the trouble with smells, the lack of critical vocabulary around smells, NFTs: are they good or evil for art smells?, and how people interact with things differently once smells are involved.  [What we smell like today: Lolita Lempicka Mon Premiere, Maluma Royalty Amethyst] Follow us on Instagram @smellyalater.mp3 and find our merch and stuff at our website, smellyalater.live. 77: Gearing Up For A Scentboi Summer

It's been a minute (three weeks) but due to unforsmelled circumstances, we took a little-medium break. But now we're back on the very same bullshit that we are known and loved for: talking about smells we like. In this very casual catch-up chat, Tynan and Sable discuss new scents they like, new scents they would like to smell, and the beginnings of what is shaping up to be a Scentboi Summer™ (you heard it here first). That's pretty much it. This one bounces around quite a bit, which may cause listeners with pivoting sensitivies  some minor anguish. But for everyone else,  it's pretty much the same oversharing and oversmelling you've come to expect.
