#122 // Dr. Chris Bruno | Did Paul Think Jesus Was God?

In this episode, I talked with Dr. Chris Bruno. Dr. Bruno received his PhD from Wheaton College and is the President and Professor of New Testament and Biblical Theology at Oahu Theological Seminary. He is also the author of multiple books including Paul vs. James: What We've Been Missing in The Faith and Works Debate. Chris is a member of the St. John Fellowship of the Center for Pastor Theologians.In our discussion, Dr. Bruno and I talked about the study of divine Christology. We discussed the nature of Jesus, how the early church came to understand Jesus’s divinity, and how they articulated their theology in the Apostles Creed, Nicene Creed, and Athanasian Creed. We talked about what it means that “Jesus descended into Hell” and what Jesus meant when he said, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”. Finally, we talked about his new book, The Divine Christology of the Apostle Paul: Retrospect and Prospect. In this book, Dr. Chris Bruno, Dr. John Lee, and Dr. Thomas Schreiner explain the scholarly work done in the past 50 years related to the Apostle Paul’s Christology. I hope you enjoy! #120 // Dr. Douglas O'Donnell | What Is Liturgy?

In this episode, I got to talk with Dr. Douglas O’Donnell about his new devotional, Daily Liturgy Devotional. He received his MDiv at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and his PhD at the University of Aberdeen. Douglas is the senior vice president of Bible editorial at Crossway. He has authored and edited over twenty books and has pastored many churches. Douglas has served as a professor and has trained people all over the world to read and teach the Bible.In this conversation, we discussed his liturgical devotional, why he chose to split his devotional into eight different parts, each focused on a specific aspect of God and his commands for us. #119 // Dr. Jared Compton | Is Israel Still God's Chosen People?

In this episode, I got to talk with Dr. Jared Compton. Dr. Compton has been on this podcast before and is one of my favorite theologians. Jared graduated from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary with his M.Div and from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School with his Ph.D. He has written and co-written three books, Biblical Theology according to the Apostles: How the Earliest Christians Told Israel’s Story, Three Views on Israel and the Church in Romans 9–11, and Psalm 110 and the Logic of Hebrews. Dr. Compton has also written for many publications including Desiring God and The Gospel Coalition.We discussed how to read the Bible the way the Bible reads the Bible, that is, how to do proper Biblical theology. We also talked about Romans 9-11 and how modern Christians should interpret Pauls writings in these chapters. We finally discussed how Christians can use their understanding of Romans 9-11 to build a political philosophy related to the current war in Israel.Today marks one year since Israel was brutally attacked by the terrorist group, Hamas.
