Episode 1300 - A Panel of CNI Nerdiness w/ Special Guest Michael Emerson!
It's our big 1300th episode and Jimmy and Producer Joe gather a panel of friends to discuss comics, TV, film, news and pop culture. Heidi MacDonald (EIC of THE BEAT) has been a good friend of them and the podcast for years now and always comes on to hang. 2 of her editors Avery Kaplan (PRISM COMICS) and Therese Lacson (NERDOPHILES) also join in on the rap session. Both have helped out with reviews and interviews over the last couple of years on CNI and are so appreciated! We had such a fun time talking away about the business of nerdy entertainment. Also, at the last minute, Jimmy decides to text his old pal Michael Emerson to see if he was free to jump on for a short time. And yes, he was free! Always fun catching up with Michael as we just had a laid back chat about what he's working on, LOST, Comic-Con and more. It was a surprise to the other panelists and it turns out they were big fans and were delighted to have the chance to chat. Thanks again to Michael and the panel for hanging w/ Jimmy and Producer Joe on this anniversary episode! Also, get a hold of us! Thanks for listening!

Episode 1291 - Greg Pak (I Belong To You/Motherland)!
In a last minute special episode, Jimmy and pal Greg Pak chat about his new illustrated book of poetry called I BELONG TO YOU/MOTHERLAND. It's about growing up half Korean in Texas and not quite belonging but totally bound to the flora and fauna of the place. It's also about lessons, memory and the death of his mother. Great photos by both his mother and Greg with original art by comic book artists like Shing Yin Khor, Sean Chen, Ethan Young and more. Greg talks about the origin of the book as a libretto for a choral group in Texas that will perform it in a few weeks. They also chat about growing up as latchkey kids and having the freedom to explore and do things that were normal back then. A sense of belonging is a strong part of the book as well and Greg tells of us his struggles. It's also a lovely tribute to his mother and he talks of the joy of growing up with her and the goodness she instilled in him. A beautiful memoir indeed! The book is out June 25th and will be exclusively available for purchase via the Austin, Texas comic book shop Dragon's Lair. It will be available elsewhere shortly after. Also, get a hold of us!
