Why I joined the LDS Church then left…

On today’s episode, we chat with our new friend Peyton! You are going to LOVE his story of finding the Church, waiting to be baptized, joining, leaving, and finally coming back.    Peyton learned about the Church from a friend and had decided he wanted to be baptized, but he didn’t receive permission from his parents. Are Mormons Brainwashed?

This is a comment/question we get A LOT. Are Mormons brainwashed? There are a lot of reasons as to why members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints might be viewed as brainwashed and we want to address those reasons, as members of the LDS Church. Debate.org asked why Mormons are brainwashed and they received a variety of answers, which we discuss here. Some of the answers include:    “Children are told to join the Church at age 8.”  “Missionaries have the same script every time they talk to someone.”   “They tell each other that they are part of the only true church.”   “They claim that nothing is the Church’s fault, it’s always the fault of the member.”   “They base their beliefs off of “feeling” and not off of fact.”

Is Joseph Smith like biblical prophets?

**This episode isn’t to prove that Joseph Smith is a prophet, nor is it an attempt to determine Joseph Smith as a prophet simply because of his similarities to other prophets. Determining if Joseph Smith is a prophet is something that you’ll have to determine on your own through asking God in prayer and studying His words.**    **For more episodes about Joseph Smith, check out these playlists:  Faith and Beliefs (shorter episodes) -- https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...Saints Unscripted (longer episodes) -- https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...    Today we wanted to talk about some of the similarities between Joseph Smith and biblical prophets. Joseph Smith founded the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (restoring the original church of Jesus Christ through the power of Jesus Christ). Members of the Church of Jesus Christ believe that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God, just like prophets in the Bible and other scriptures. In this episode, we briefly discuss those similarities.

Our MOST IMPORTANT episode…

FRIENDS. We love you. So much. We started this channel over 4 years ago with little idea of what it would become. We simply wanted to talk about our faith as candidly and honestly as possible. We wanted to share our beliefs authentically, as our beliefs seemed to be told by people who were very much against our religion. Little did we know how many friends we would make (all of you!) or how much love we would receive from people all over the world. So we want to say THANK YOU for your constant support. Your comments, both positive and negative, are enlightening, touching, and often quite hilarious. We love you MUCHO. Please stick around! This episode was recorded on Thanksgiving day 2020.

Should Mormon women stay at home?

In the past few months, we’ve been trying to cover more topics pertaining to women (particularly Mormon women). In this episode, Sam and Justin talk about women in the workforce. Do women belong in the workforce? And in regards to Mormon women, should they stay at home?    Sam talks about the history of Mormon in the workforce (things that have been said to members and leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ in the past), the current statistics about both women generally and Mormon women, and Sam’s current personal opinions about being a female in the workforce.    There has been a history of patriarchy in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (and throughout the world). Such beliefs caused many women to choose against pursuing an education or full-time job outside of the home. But is that what the current belief is among Mormon women? Or have things changed? Should things change even more, if they’ve changed at all?
