2/2 Psychological Safety of Daily Mission, Debrief: Rob "Cujo" Teschner
In the corporate world, the idea of ‘accountability’ is seen as a core function of management. However, if we think about it, in many ways we've had accountability upside down. Here’s what I mean; we pay more attention to knowing who to blame in case we fail than to creating the conditions to succeed. What that means is that oftentimes, accountability is seen as a threat rather than a debrief strategy for success. So, what might happen if we turned that around? Is it possible that we’ve got accountability upside down? If so, how can we get it so that our people want to embrace accountability? Our guest today is Mr. Rob “Cujo” Teschner. Cujo is a veteran of Operations NORTHERN and SOUTHERN WATCH over Iraq. He’s a former F-15 Eagle instructor at the prestigious U.S. Air Force Weapons school—the Air Force ‘Top Gun’ program. Cujo’s also a former F-22 ‘Raptor’ fighter squadron commander; that’s the CEO of an organization that employed more than $4 Billion in low-volume, high-demand assets designed to take the fight deep into enemy territory. He is the Founder and Principal at V.Max Group, a Leadership and Teamwork training company. To top all that, he is also a cancer survivor. Cujo is the bestselling author of, Debrief to Win: How America’s Top Guns Practice Accountable Leadership. 2/2: Pressure Testing Your Destination: Craig Lemasters
Do you have a learning ecosystem that facilitates the wisest people sharing their wisdom? Because if you don’t, you and your organization are going to get stuck pretty fast. However, there’s another component that we as leaders must address with ourselves; that is, the human desire for denial. Too often, a leader will find themselves 'stuck,' not moving forward at the speed needed, and they are too hard-headed to admit it. As a result, they remain stuck for way too long. So, how can we recognize when we're stuck and what can we do to quickly become unstuck? Let’s find out together. Our guest is Craig Lemasters. Craig is an author, entrepreneur, investor, and board member with more than twenty years of success in executive leadership positions, including over a decade as CEO of a public company subsidiary. During his CEO tenure, Craig led digital transformation initiatives, global expansions and countless M&A integrations. However, that was part one of his career. For the 2.0 version of his career, Craig Lemasters is dedicated to helping senior leaders get ‘unstuck’ and unlock and activate the wisdom of others. Craig’s new book is titled, Unstuck, and it takes us on a deep dive into his journey as CEO teaching readers how they can implement processes within their own teams so, no matter what challenge arises next, they’re ready to get unstuck!
