Zach Galindo - The Lakehighlands School of Music w/ The Chamber Chicks
Zach Galindo is the Executive Director of the College of Music and a lifelong musician whose passion for teaching and performing has shaped an entire community. He began giving private lessons in 2004 and has since taught more than 1,000 students. In 2014, Zach expanded his vision by hiring his first teacher, which led to the creation of his music school. By May of 2017, the brick and mortar Lake Highlands School of Music opened its doors and now serves more than 300 students of all ages.A proud Lake Highlands High School alum from the class of 2000, Zach went on to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston and earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of North Texas with concentrations in jazz and classical guitar.Beyond the classroom, Zach spent more than a decade touring nationally and internationally with Americana band Rodney Parker & 50 Peso Reward, sharing stages with artists including the Turnpike Troubadours, Old 97’s, Gin Blossoms, Robert Earl Keen, Randy Rogers Band, Stoney Larue, and Shakey Graves. Located in Dallas’ s Forest Hills neighborhood on the original homestead of pioneer Warren Angus Ferris, the 1847 Ferris Historic Cemetery is the final resting place of prominent early settlers. It is the mission of the Friends of the Warren Ferris Cemetery to recognize and honor those buried there, evolve an ongoing landscape restoration plan, and to beautify and maintain the landscape to the standards of a certified wildlife & monarch butterfly way station, and to promote environmental stewardship.The Warren Angus Ferris Cemetery was established in the mid-1800s on the Ferris 640 acre homestead and was used by the Ferris family and the neighboring community.
