198. Staying Playful: An Interview with Immersive Underwater Fine Art Photographer Birdee
Today on the Dangerous Creatives podcast, Kristin interviews Birdee, an immersive underwater fine art photographer. Birdee shares her path from working in the medical field to discovering her passion and talent for underwater photography, leaning into the feminine energy of life to find inspiration and flow, and the importance of play and intention in your work and life.
Birdee is a fine art photographer who explores themes of femininity, strength, and grace through graceful imagery of the female form. Her work often features the serene interplay of water and natural light, bringing an ethereal, timeless quality to each portrait. Self-taught, Birdee began her journey with self-portraiture as a means of healing and empowerment, which has since evolved into immersive portrait sessions that offer others a safe space for self-discovery and liberation.
Birdee’s photography is deeply influenced by her connection to nature, drawing parallels between the delicate yet resilient feminine form and the landscapes she inhabits. Her images reflect a unique perspective on portraiture, where each frame is a study of vulnerability, strength, and authenticity. In a world that often objectifies and constraints, Birdee’s work challenges the viewer to see beyond the surface, capturing complex emotions and the quiet power of simply being in one’s skin. Through her art, she invites us to embrace the beauty of vulnerability and the profound connection we share with the natural world.

196. Fabi’s Love Story - Fabi Powell and Kristin Sweeting
On this episode of the Dangerous Creatives Podcast, Kristin chats with her previous 2x Bride Fabi Powell about her unique story of finding exceptional love twice in her life, the true value of photographs, and what it is like to persevere after devastating heartbreak and loss. Fabi’s unique story is an inspiring one, and her perspective on life, love, and loss (and photography) is definitely one to listen to.
Fabi Powell lost her Army Ranger husband, Josh, to Synovial Sarcoma cancer at 29 years old. She started the Josh Powell Foundation in his honor to help encourage newly diagnosed patients and fulfill the wishes of those running out of time. At 33, she began a three-year journey through IVF, hoping to have her late husband’s baby, but despite her efforts, the dream was not realized. However, in the midst of her grief, Fabi found the second love of her life. They got married in May and are now expecting a baby boy in October. She shares her story to give others hope—reminding them that joy does coexist alongside unimaginable pain, and that it can, and will, exist for them too. She believes there is still beauty to be found in life after earth-shattering loss; that there is extraordinary love on the other side of debilitating fear; and that impossible dreams can become reality with enough faith and resilience. “Life is hard, but it’s too short to let the hard outweigh the beauty. And when we learn that, we must pass it on.
