Order & Argument in Prayer | Charles H. Spurgeon | Sermon Select Classic

How do you order your prayers? How much thought do you give to what you pray for and how you organize your petitions? Should we pray whatever we feel, or what comes into our mind in a random, unorganized fashion? Or should we rather take time and give thought to who we are addressing, what we are asking for, and then ordering our petitions in a way which reflects the prayers of Scripture? You might think that the word argument is not a fitting description for prayer. Well, Charles Spurgeon would disagree. On July 15th, 1866, he preached his classic sermon at the Metropolitan Tabernacle, Order and Argument in Prayer. I hope you are helped by this sermon which is read by Joe Wilson, Pastor of Grace Reformed Baptist Church in Owensboro, KY. Open-Air Preaching & Evangelism | Josh Williamson | The Weekly Discourse

The Weekly Discourse | It could be that one of the last things you have given thought to with the distractions of the past 6 months is the subject of evangelism and open-air preaching. To many of us, it seems to be getting more and more difficult with the added complications of social distancing and what seems to be a significant increase of open hostility from our culture. Today I talk with Pastor Josh Williamson to discuss the subject of open-air preaching & evangelism. Josh is an Australian Pastor / Evangelist who is passionate about equipping the church to give answers to the questions the world is asking, and reaching out to the lost. Since receiving Christ in 2002, Josh has had a drive to make Jesus Christ known to as many people as would listen. Over the years the Lord has opened many doors for ministry, including preaching opportunities in several countries and pastoring in both Australia and the UK. Josh holds a postgraduate Diploma in Theology from Malyon College in Queensland, and has also completed studies through the London Reformed Baptist Seminary. He is currently enrolled at Covenant Baptist Theological Seminary.  Josh resides in Newquay, Cornwall, with his wife, Louise, and their three children, Thomas, Elizabeth, and Henry and serves as the Pastor at Newquay Baptist Church. joshwilliamson.org

1689 1:9-10 - Scripture is Self-Interpreting | Confessing the Faith

Confessing the Faith | The Scripture does not mean what Rome says it means. The Scripture means what it says it means. "The infallible rule of interpretation of Scripture is the Scripture itself; and therefore when there is a question about the true and full sense of any Scripture (which is not manifold, but one), it must be searched by other places that speak more clearly." Confessing the Faith is a theological and devotional walk through the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith with host Sam Waldron, Pastor of Grace Reformed Baptist Church in Owensboro, KY and President of Covenant Baptist Theological Seminary. False Shepherds Exposed | Richard Barcellos | Sermon Select

Sermon Select | You are listening to Sermon Select on the Man of God Network, brought to you by Covenant Baptist Theological Seminary. Our Good Shepherd has blessed his church with faithful under-shepherds, and for this we ought to be exceedingly grateful. But Paul warned the church in Ephesus to be on guard against false shepherds, or savage wolves. Many Christians have been ravaged by false shepherds. So how can we tell a faithful shepherd from a false shepherd?  Richard Barcellos, Pastor of Grace Reformed Baptist Church of Palmdale, CA talks about this in the midst of his exposition of John 10 in the following sermon, titled, False Shepherds Exposed and True Shepherds Revealed. Richard Barcellos is Pastor of Grace Reformed Baptist Church of Palmdale, CA. To find out more about the ministry of GRBC Palmdale, visit http://grbcav.org/. 1689 1:5 - Scripture is Self-Authenticating | Confessing the Faith

Confessing the Faith | The Scripture is Self-Authenticating. That is to say, it does not have authority because of (as the Confession says) “the testimony of even man or church.” We do not believe the Bible because of the testimony of an infallible church or an expert historian, but on the basis of altogether higher authority. We believe it and follow it because it is the Word of God. Confessing the Faith is a theological and devotional walk through the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith with host Sam Waldron, Pastor of Grace Reformed Baptist Church in Owensboro, KY and President of Covenant Baptist Theological Seminary. Jesus' Warning Against Compromise | John Miller | Sermon Select

Sermon Select | One thing that we can be sure of in this life is that we will be faced with the temptation to compromise our faith and practice. The world, the flesh and the devil apply constant pressure to the church of God, at times threatening death or damages upon those who don’t get on the “right side of history”. These compromises usually seem relatively harmless, hidden or inconsequential, but in reality they are deadly. We must hold fast to our confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ through pains or even death.  John Miller, Pastor of Grace Baptist Church of Carlisle, PA encourages us to hold fast to our Confession in the following sermon, titled, Jesus Warns the Church in Pergamum Against Compromise. John Miller is Pastor of Grace Baptist Church of Carlisle, PA. To find out more about the ministry of GBC Carlisle, visit http://gracebaptistcarlisle.org/.
