God has appointed preaching as a means of grace to sustain and empower his people in difficult and perilous days. How has God used preaching to benefit his people during difficult times in the past? Hanserd Knollys wrote an autobiographical summary of his life, he did this at the age of 63 when he thought his death was near. He had lost several family members in years prior, including his wife. In it he lists a number of experiences that had impressed the power, grace, and love of God on his mind during his wife.
