The digital workforce team at NHS England is producing a plan to narrow the skills gap for digital, data, technology and informatics roles. In this podcast, senior digital leaders come together to discuss what they think is fundamental to the success of the plan. Hear representatives from Health Education England, NHS England, and Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust discuss how a focus on culture should be central with a workforce encouraged to accept change and empowered with the skills “to use digital well”. It’s team working though that really stands out with the panel discussing how a focus on collaboration, trust and learning will help shift ways of working to being more outcome focused, with strong relationships, at every level, supporting organisations on a more sustainable journey.

In this episode we're joined by Jenny Cooke from Leeds Health and Care Partnership along with Claire Turner from Carers Leeds. They were on wave one of the NHS England Population Health Management Development Programme and were also part of the Place Development Programme this year. They have been working closely to embed population health management within their system and talk to us about how this structure works and how relationships with the third sector have been developed. In our latest Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) podcast, Tracey Herlihey, head of patient safety incident response policy, in the national patient safety team, is joined by Vicky Ainsworth, a communications lead at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trus,t and Stuart Kaill, from Health Innovation Manchester, to discuss ways of communicating about large scale change projects in NHS organisations.
