114 How to Build Accountable Teams: Interview with Eric Coryell

In team settings, leaders are often the ones in charge of stepping in and rectifying issues when the team falls short of expectations. While this "leader-led accountability" allows the leader a great deal of control in ensuring that the desired results are achieved, it doesn't leave much room for the team and its individual members to learn, grow, and become the best version of themselves. As an award-winning trainer, facilitator, coach, and the author of Revolutionize Teamwork: How to Create and Lead Accountable Teams, Eric Coryell is an expert at helping leaders engage their employees through the creation of functional and accountable teams. In Episode 114 of The MINDSet Game® podcast, Eric discusses the following: Tips for how leaders can become more comfortable with surrendering some control to their teams – and why it's important to do so Key attributes of functional, accountable teams, and what distinguishes them from teams that are only functional but not accountable The importance of trust and shared fates within a team, as well as both healthy and unhealthy ways to foster these concepts To learn more about accountable teams, get in touch with Eric at eric@accountableteams.com, or look for his book at Barnes & Noble or Amazon. 113 Fostering a Mindset of Diversity and Inclusion: Interview with Sean Foster

We've all heard terms such as diversity, equity, and inclusion in the context of corporate culture. But these are far more than buzzwords – when all employees feel safe and valued in bringing their unique selves to work, they will likely be happier, more productive, and more loyal to their employer, which translates to greater success for the organization. How can companies move beyond treating diversity as a box that needs to be checked, and ensure that they are creating an environment where each and every employee feels comfortable? According to Shan Foster, our guest in Episode 113 of The MINDSet Game® podcast, the solution may require a resetting of corporate culture. Shan is the co-founder and CEO of Fostering Healthy Solutions, LLC, where he cultivates healthy solutions to diversity issues through education, training, and execution, as well as the author of What Hurt Didn't Hinder and a frequent speaker before national and international corporations, conferences, and collegiate national sports programs. In this episode, Shan discusses the following: Why our differences bring even more value than the things that make us alike Why intentionality in various areas of a company's process – from the hiring stage through training and beyond – is key to nurturing successful employees and achieving true diversity 7 steps to resetting corporate culture, as well as examples that illustrate why these steps are so important Why it's crucial for leaders to reconnect their heads with their hearts when approaching issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion To learn more about Shan, follow him on Twitter at shanfoster_32 or visit his company's website at https://fosteringhealthysolutions.com. 109 Resolving Conflicts with the Enneagram: Interview with Jenny Yoder

While there are many different tools available to help us better understand our own personality types and those of others, one of the most effective is the Enneagram system. Consisting of nine different archetypes that are determined based on an individual's social and coping styles, the Enneagram can serve as a roadmap to help you become more aware of the patterns that operate in your life – particularly when you are facing conflict. As a Certified Riso-Hudson Enneagram Institute teacher and an accredited professional with the International Enneagram Association, as well as a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation, Jenny Yoder has used the Enneagram as a guide to help business leaders, teams, and many others overcome conflict and build even stronger relationships. 108 The Art of Powerful Questions: Interview with Joshua Miller

Asking questions such as, "How are you?" is a common formality in our society – yet often, the person asking the question does not take time to truly listen to or care about the response, thereby rendering the question essentially meaningless. However, questions that are well-framed in terms of both content and context can serve as powerful tools for fostering greater success, happiness, and connection with others, as well as within ourselves. As a Master Certified Executive and Personal Coach, an Amazon best-selling author, as well as a TEDx speaker, LinkedIn top influencer, and contributing writer for major industry-related journals, Joshua Miller has finetuned the art of using questions to expand possibilities. In Episode 108 of The MINDSet Game® podcast, Josh discusses the following: The difference between open-ended and close-ended questions, and the importance of being present when asking these questions How working on becoming more curious, humble, and vulnerable can help you connect with others and co-create magical new possibilities Why it's also important to be curious and humble when asking yourself open-ended questions, such as "What am I feeling right now?" and "In what areas of my life does a particular pattern keep showing up?" Specific questions that leaders can ask themselves and their team members in order to improve results, as well as tips for asking these questions in a way that will foster a stronger connection To learn more about Josh, visit his website at https://joshhmiller.com or connect with him on LinkedIn. 107 Taming Your Inner Gremlin: Interview with Rick Carson

As complex beings, a duality exists inside each and every human: we have a pure and true side, as well as a darker side that is constantly trying to diminish our vibrance. Rick Carson, our guest in Episode 107 of The MINDSet Game® podcast, refers to this darker side as a "gremlin" – a part of us that must be tamed in order to lead happy, fulfilled lives. As a practicing psychotherapist for nearly five decades, a personal and executive coach, and the author of "Taming Your Gremlin: A Surprisingly Simple Method for Getting Out of Your Own Way," Rick has developed several techniques for conquering the negative voices and tendencies that lurk within each of us. In this episode, he shares some of these techniques, including: Simply noticing when your gremlin surfaces, and then accentuating the physical sensations that accompany it. These actions can trigger what Rick calls the Zen Theory of Change – when you realize that you are the one causing the unpleasant feelings you're experiencing, a natural correction can start to occur. Learning to think of your breathing as not only a regulator, but also an indicator that can tell you when you're "glitching," whether due to anxiety, physical or emotional pain (or the anticipation of it), or another form of anguish. Becoming aware of the surface of your skin, which functions as a highly sensitive barrier between everything that happens within you and the rest of the world. Rick emphasizes that while these techniques are simple, they require constant practice; he says that taming your gremlin essentially requires turning your life into a living meditation and gaining gentle control over your awareness. 106 How to Successfully Navigate Disruption: Interview with Charlene Li

With change constantly happening in the world around us, it's crucial for organizations to have structures and systems in place that will allow them to navigate disruptions with agility. While changing circumstances can create formidable obstacles for some organizations, Charlene Li – our guest in Episode 106 of The MINDSet Game® podcast – has always been curious about those that can seemingly move from disruption to disruption without skipping a beat. In this episode, Charlene outlines the three key things that organizations need in order to seamlessly move from disruption to disruption: an ability to focus on the needs of future customers, leaders who can create a movement and momentum to carry the organization into the future, and a culture that's capable of dealing with flux. Within this framework, she shares specific insights, including: 3 questions that everyone in an organization – from senior leadership to frontline workers – should be able to answer regarding how the organization will serve future customers How leaders can attract followers to the movement they are seeking to create, even when dealing with individuals whose values may not align with that movement Signs that indicate that a movement towards change is successfully underway The consequences for organizations that resist creating a "flux culture" designed to help them navigate disruption To learn more about Charlene, visit her website at https://www.charleneli.com.
