The child who was severely unwell has since made a full recovery. To date, 7 poultry farms in Australia have been hit by the highly pathogenic avian influenza. The World Health Organisation (WHO) in June reported the first human casualty of the H5N2 strain of Bird Flu. The death took place in Mexico. In the US, top CDC officials have called for more testing of humans and animals. As chicken farms from the US to Australia grapple with the fears of the spread of avian influenza, what does this mean for ASEAN meat stocks? Are chicken prices about to rise?
