CMMS Pricing is Confusing!

In this episode we’re discussing CMMS system pricing to help you make sense of the many options you have when buying a system on your CMMS journey. Why?  Because CMMS Pricing is Confusing!   There's price per user, per site, per location, per square foot, per asset, per module, or a mixture of everything – sometimes called variable pricing.  How do you figure out what is best for your operation?  The first place to start is with what fits your operational process - your teams' working style.  There are several pricing models to consider but don’t forget the real reason you’re getting a CMMS – to solve a problem or set of problems.  Let's talk about these pricing models and try to make sense of it for your CMMS journey.

What is a CMMS and Why Use One

In this episode we discuss Computerized Maintenance Management Software and how CMMS is used to manage facility and property operations such as work orders or asset maintenance. A CMMS system gets your company organized and on track with day-to-day mission critical maintenance activities.  There seems to be no limit to the industries, and company types, that can benefit from implementing a CMMS if only to bring in a basic process to an otherwise difficult-to-maintain approach like paper, emails, voice mails, and spreadsheets.  We'll cover a bit on work orders as well.  Thanks for listening to CMMSradio.

What should schools track in their CMMS platform

Schools, Colleges, and Universities have a lot to track when it comes to facilities and maintenance operations leaving the questions of "what should a school track in their CMMS platform?"  It is easy to jump on that with "everything" and it is kind of true.  The reality is we need a place to start that is not overwhelming but rather follows a building block approach.  In this episode we cover the basics but in a detailed way.  We want to keep it light but still get you off to a great start. It makes sense to track building, areas of each building, grounds, and other parts of your school or campus setting. Track your equipment assets - They're a critical part of your facilities. Preventive Maintenance - That's important.  Realize HUGE gains with a proper PM program in place. Don't forget your users and your vendors.  This might include your supply vendors. The process is different when starting with no system at all versus a lift and shift from an existing system. Get ready to dump all of those excel files, spreadsheets, emails, and post it notes.  It's time to roll out a CMMS platform and do it right. Hire a consultant if you need help with your CMMS project. How a simple work order process, or system, creates efficiency

A simple work order process, or system, creates efficiency in many areas of your facilities, maintenance, and other operations. Notice that I said a simple work order process.  That’s important and I will tell you why right now. If you do not have a work order process in place that is where you often start, with a simple system, because that is  the tolerance we often see in the CMMS, Facilities Management or Maintenance, and related industries.  You can sometimes get a good launch with something advanced or complex, or maybe something in between.  We’re going to keep it simple for this episode and make it about simple work order management. The basic work order process, from paper to digital, should be straight forward, nothing crazy or complex, to web-enable your existing process in an effective yet non-disruptive way.  Have a listen and let us know if you have ideas, questions, or need clarification on any of the details in this episode.  Visit CMMSradio.com to submit feedback, a CMMS story, or suggest a topic.  Thank you for listening to CMMSradio.

Considerations for selecting a work order management system

There is a company I have been following, for a while now, and I like the things they are doing for the industry and their clients. I caught something on my LinkedIn feed, related to a recent episode of CMMSradio on a similar topic. They put out an article this week that I thought might be useful for anyone looking around for a CMMS or Work Order Management system.  I grabbed some parts of that for this episode. I want to thank FlowPath for putting out this article. It offers good guidance and some insights that will help us all.  Have a listen and let us know what you think at CMMSradio.com and thanks for listening.
