Our guests for this week are Jo and Sally Godfrey, sisters and co-founders of âNo Grainerâ, a small business based in Melbourne that produces extremely nutritious, high-quality grain-free products.About Jo and SallyJo and Sally have suffered from all kinds of food intolerances their entire life. After years of battles with all kinds of different health issues between them, including chronic acne to autoimmune diseases they managed to turn their lives around when the learned about the importance of gut health. They decided to ditch the gluten, the grains, and the sugar which helped them manage their conditions better and live much healthier, comfortable lives. But there was still one problem - they missed eating bread! Growing up, bread was a huge part of their diet and so going off-grain was not an easy task for them. Still, united by their love for bread and dietary restrictions, they decided to combine healthy and tasty to create food of their own.In March 2015, they started their own small business called âNo Grainerâ and started producing bread and baked goods which didnât contain any grains, refined sugars, gluten, preservatives, and bean or starch flour. Today they offer a range of products including different types of bread, pizza bases, pancake mixes, flours and much more! A lot of their products are paleo and keto-friendly as well!Connect with Jo and Sally:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/nograinermelbourne/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nograineraustralia/Website: https://www.nograiner.com.au/In This Episode We Canvas:How Adversity Shapes UsBoth Jo and Sally have experienced their share of adversity and in this section of the podcast, we get into just how those struggles shaped them into the people they are today. Understanding the connection between hardships and resilience is what helps us let go of our past and welcome present, no matter how challenging it may get.âEverything shapes you. You canât regret it⊠It does make you what you are!â - Sally GodfreyDo We Take Aesthetic Issues More Seriously?ï»żAs we dissect their journey further we unpack the question of what makes aesthetic issues such strong motivators for changes in our behavior. We discuss the social aspect of the issue, explore the lengths weâre willing to go in order to preserve our appearance and contrast with how unmoved we are when facing some non-visible issues.âPeople, all the time, still put up with the bloating, still put up with not being able to go to the toilet, all these things⊠But I know that if they had acne and it cleared up theyâd probably stop it.â - Sally GodfreyThe Beauty In Cooking for LoveEven though the last four years have been quite challenging, Jo and Sally have made sure that theyâre spending enough time cooking and baking out of the office and bring joy to their families.âWhen youâre cooking for love, thereâs nothing that we love more!â - Sally GodfreyFinding Energy In the Love You RecieveâNo Grainerâ has blossomed into a respectable brand and a beautiful business but it was never going to be an easy task. Jo and Sally open up about their doubts and moments of weakness theyâve experienced over the years. Even though they were ready to quit on numerous occasions, the love and kindness of their loving customers gave them the strength to keep pushing forward.âIt was just so stressful, we had no idea! But we would get these letters⊠people would write⊠âyour bread has changed my lifeâ, âthank you so muchâ... and always when we were at the brink of, like, âFuck this!â - someone would come through.â - Jo GodfreyThe Transformation That Comes from Doing What You LoveIâm always blessed to hear stories of people stepping into their truth and the transformation they experience and go through consequently. Loving what you do is an essential component of leading a happy and healthy life. The Godfrey sisters talk about how their business inspired them to evolve and change for the better.âIt has been absolutely massive. It has changed my life, in the most profound way! I feel like Iâm a completely different person⊠I feel like Iâm coming to a place where Iâm finally bringing those two sides together and I couldnât have done it without this business.â - Jo GodfreyTaking Care of the Business First So That You Can Inspire ChangeBeing driven to help other people is an inherently selfless approach. This is exactly why we tend to neglect and forget to take care of ourselves first. It seems rude to us and our values as if we were selling out and stepping away from our true purpose and path. But money is a tool more than anything else and we need to be able to sustain ourselves in order to protect our cause and those weâre trying to help. Helping yourself is the first step towards helping other people.âWe often set goals and put expectations and when it doesnât happen⊠you feel a bit disappointed⊠Thereâs that whole thing of âworking on your business, not in your businessâ... And at the moment because our margins are incredibly tight⊠We need to figure out how to take care of ourselves, take care of the business and start to actually be able to draw a profit from this to enable us to let it grow.â - Jo GodfreyJoâs and Sallyâs Message of Inspired EvolutionHaving Jo and Sally on the podcast was so much fun! Their story is an inspiration because it embodies a lot of the things weâve discussed in the past on this very podcast. âDo what you loveâ, âfill your cup firstâ,... Itâs just wonderful to see how theyâre still evolving and growing despite dealing with all sorts of challenges every step of the way.Lastly, I really love the fact that they absolutely live and love what they do and that theyâre trying to educate people as well. They truly are leading by example and Iâm really hoping this podcast will inspire people to examine how they feel.âReally check-in with yourself and look at the foods that youâre eating⊠Try to get on the path to health now!â - Jo and Sally GodfreySupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/inspiredevolution. IE094 Gautam Khetrapal: Life Designing: Crafting Exceptional Lives w Transformational Education Events (LifePlugin)
Our guest for this week is Gautam Khetrapal, an entrepreneur, trainer, transformational speaker and founder of âLife Pluginâ.Use promo code INSPIRED for a 10% off the LifePlugin Summit Ticket.About GautamA little over 10 years ago, Gautam was going through a moment of personal crisis. He was convinced his best years were behind him even though he was just a young engineering student, barely getting started.Gautamâs transformational journey started around the time where he joined the youth organization AIESEC, where he came upon people that shared his interests and values. At AIESEC, Gautam found his tribe. It was his experience of working alongside young non-conformists that got him hooked on personal transformation. He was also able to define his interests further and started searching for answers to questions like what does it take to build a deeply connected tribe and how to make our learning and education an exciting adventure. In 2017, he founded âLife Pluginâ, an organization with a goal to turn personal growth into a lifelong adventure. Their mission is to create the âDisneyland of Learning and Educationâ because they believe that learning needs to be fun and intrinsically motivating in order to help people create a successful and meaningful life.As an international speaker, he has held lectures and talks at stages all over the world, including places like Mindvalley, UNESCO, TEDx and Startup Investor Summit. You can check out some of his latest lectures online for free on YouTube!Connect with Gautam:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/gautam.khetrapal.9LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/gautam-khetrapal-b03b3b17/Website: https://gautamkhetrapal.com/Company Website: https://lifeplugin.comIn This Episode We Canvas:Why Do We Prosper as a Species?Spoiler alert - this is a podcast about human connection and about how our interconnectedness defines us as a species. From the start, we dive into the topic by defining it as a crucial advantage point which allowed us to rise, progress and prosper as a species.âHuman beings are social animals. Our survival depends on our social bonding and social strength. As a species, weâre not the strongest. Weâre not even the smartest species. The reason that makes human beings the most successful species on the planet is to do with that ability to collaborate and live together in community.â - Gautam KhetrapalThe Problem with Living Highly Individualistic LifestylesIn recent years and in Western culture in particular, there is a trend for people looking to actualize themselves as individuals seeking independence and self-sufficiency. According to Gautam, this approach is not an efficient way for personal growth because it directly clashes with and rejects the thing that makes us flourish.âWeâre moving to cities and building highly independent lifestyles. But, the reality is, our success is not in our independence⊠it is in our interdependence.â - Gautam KhetrapalThe Currency of BelongingOne of the key concepts of Gautamâs teachings is his understanding of the currency of belonging. He has placed this idea at the very center of his companies system of values and in this section, we discuss all the potential of adding this âsecret sauceâ to your business strategy.âThis currency of belonging is becoming the most valuable currency, the way I look at it. If we donât capitalize on that information I donât think weâre giving enough value to people. Because we need to go beyond just curating the best information for people. We need to bring people to with the same values, the same core belief system and just bring them together.â - Gautam KhetrapalWhat Is the Interdependence Principle?Weâve discussed interdependence on our podcast more than a few times. Here, we have a front-row seat where we get to listen to how Gautam shares and elaborates his relatable understanding of the underlying social mechanism of collaboration and mutual support.âInterdependence is having my close friends, growing myself, my family, every aspect of my life with a bunch of people where I can say Iâm responsible for their growth and I can tell for sure they are responsible for mine.â - Gautam KhetrapalHow to Grow Through Deep ImmersionsGautam shares his thoughts on the three pillars of education which are self-education, learning from your tribe and education via deep immersions. The first two are very common and intuitive but Gautam sees deep immersions as something that will change how we educate ourselves in the years to come. Some forms of informal deep immersions occur spontaneously but if we are consciously aware of the benefits they provide we can learn to initiate them more often and truly utilize them for personal development.âDeep immersions are short-term events where your tribe comes together, who have the same interests⊠and dive deep into a shared area of interest.â - Gautam KhetrapalHow to Make ConnectionsSince our main topic was revolved around the benefits of connection, Gautam was more than happy to give us some direct advice regarding what we can do in order to get a better chance of finding or creating our tribe. âFind ecosystems that you think speak the same vibe as you, speak the same language as you and see when their next physical meeting is happening. And if you are a bit socially awkward and it feels a bit outside of your comfort zone, then itâs a must!â - Gautam KhetrapalGautamâs Message of Inspired EvolutionIâve known Gautam for a while and itâs really been a great pleasure to have him on our show and talk about the things that have helped him on his journey. His goals are completely aligned with the mission of the Inspired Evolution and I sincerely hope this podcast will inspire many of you to look to your tribe in ways of bettering yourselves and achieving personal growth. Gautam urges us to connect more and spreads his message on the benefits of interconnectedness beautifully. Consider this podcast as a call to action. Discovering your community is valuable and a lot less difficult than you would imagine. Especially if you take an active approach:âFind your tribe! How do you do it? By simple Google search!â - Gautam KhetrapalSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/inspiredevolution. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

IE093 Gahmya Drummond-Bey: Evolved Teaching: Teaching People to Find Their Mission (TED Talks Resident)
Our guest for this week is Gahmya Drummond-Bey, a global Instructional designer, education hacker, writer, and founder & CEO of âEvolved Teacherâ. About GahmyaGahmya believes that learning should be a uniquely amazing experience, designed to inspire people to be, do and have more. She has spent 11 years traveling around the world teaching while also learning from some of the top educational systems around the world. Gahmya has redesigned learning programs and trained educators in over 20 countries, reaching the status of âcelebrity teacherâ in South Korea. In 2015, she founded âEvolved Teacherâ with a goal of empowering global communities to build an equitable educational system and also to create a digital platform that would provide primary students all over the world with equal access to quality education. Her approach is learner-centered, meaning those who are learning are at the core of the process. The role of the teachers is not only to guide but also to learn from the learners and further evolve their approach and educational philosophies. Gahmya has also just recently launched âKidYOUniversityâ which is a personal growth platform for kids. It features animated courses and challenges that nurture the genius and loving spirit within each child.Connect with Gahmya:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/gahmyaInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/evolvedteacher/?hl=enLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/gahmya-drummond-bey-a1a46b88/Website: https://www.evolvedteacher.com/Gahmyaâs Story of Inspired EvolutionEven though Gahmya has had major success working in the field of education, her own educational background is in chemistry, health care, and communications. She was drawn to education as she realized that itâs usually presented to us with the hope of achieving future value and success.âI had one of those moments that I think a lot of people have now⊠where you feel like youâre preparing for future value. You feel like youâre preparing for future success and I wanted to feel a value at that moment. I wanted to be useful and helpful at that moment.â - Gahmya Drummond-BeyGahmya went on to pursue a career path that would help her contribute to society in the present. She subsequently decided to join the Peace Corps and went to a country where she could help, teach and also learn an uncommon foreign language. She was assigned to go to Turkmenistan.âI felt a value every second. I could see people grow... Seeing someone who canât communicate with you come back to you the next day and theyâre expressing greetings and they can express themselves - it is powerful!â - Gahmya Drummond-BeyHer experiences from Turkmenistan inspired her to go to as many countries as she could. She wanted to learn directly from children and people of different cultures about their educational desires and needs so that she could guide them and help them improve further. In This Episode We Canvas:Following Your CuriosityWeâve often talked about the importance of following our passions. Itâs been absolutely proven time and time again that this approach can be immensely valuable for personal growth. However, Gahmyaâs experience is that not everyone has a clear idea about what their greatest passion in life actually is. As an alternative, she proposes following your curiosity because it will allow you to contribute and add value while searching for answers to deeper and bigger questions.âWeâve been taught so often to follow our passions⊠Many of us do, whatever that means⊠As an educator, especially someone who works with teams a lot, I find that a bit problematic. So I donât say âFind your purpose!â I say âFind your curiosity and follow it!ââ - Gahmya Drummond-BeyThe Importance of Asking QuestionsAs we try to solve and overcome lifeâs challenges we tend to overfocus on discovering the answers. But Gahmya points out that having the ability to ask the right questions is vastly more important in the long run. Focusing on finding the answer creates a shift in focusing on finding closure. But in life and learning we know thatâs impossible. Focusing on the questions is a technique that will assure we are on the path of life-long learning and personal growth.âThereâs such a big focus on finding the answer. But itâs not about having the answers itâs about having the questions. Questions take you everywhere you need to go.â - Gahmya Drummond-BeyGrowing by Focusing on How You Can Be of ServiceAside from following our passions and curiosities, we ought to be aware of finding ways of how we can be of service. Gahmya points out that aside from resonating with the desire to add value in the present, discovering ways in which you can serve can also propel you out of your comfort zone and test your limit.âI really feel like every issue in the world can be solved by each and every one of us. And if we focus more on what problem we can solve, how we can be of service, then we go beyond our boxes!â - Gahmya Drummond-BeyPutting Emphasis on the Problems You Want to SolveIn this section, we discuss one of the biggest cliches still commonly asked children everywhere - âWhat do you want to be when you grow up?â Gahmya sees that the issue lies within the question itself. She believes that greater value comes from the asking âWhat problem do you want to solve?â By turning the focus to the problems, weâre encouraging children to both take action and weâre protecting them from the trap of thinking in patterns and stereotypes.âThe question âWhat do you want to be when you grow up?â is crippling to everyone... Serving or solving a problem allows you to have immediate value right now.â - Gahmya Drummond-BeyEvolved TeachingIn this section, Gahmya provides us with deep insights into her own educational philosophy. She sees education as a two-way street and lots of inspiring views can be extrapolated from her approach. âEvery exchange is a teaching moment⊠You are my teacher as well. Iâm learning from you. What you show me, what you say to me, what you ask⊠Iâm learning and youâre learning from me! - Gahmya Drummond-BeyGahmyaâs Message of Inspired EvolutionAs Gahmya points out in the conversation herself, our philosophies are very much aligned and I was so blessed to have this inspiring conversation. I find her approach to be incredibly valuable for future generations of both teachers and learners. Itâs incredibly intuitive and I believe it has something to do with the fact it embodies the natural mechanisms of how we learn and evolve as humans.âFor me, being an evolved teacher is not just about being an educator itâs about being a human being. Itâs about us all learning and growing and evolving as a planet!â - Gahmya Drummond-BeySupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/inspiredevolution. Hosted on Acast. IE092 Miroslav Petrovic: Public Speaking Mastery: Transform Fear to Inspiration - The 'Metafear' Revolution
Our guest for this week is Miroslav Petrovic, speaker, trainer, facilitator, and thought leader.About MiroslavMiroslav came to Australia as a refugee at the very young age of four. Throughout his youth, he struggled with a speech impediment where he would stutter whenever he tried to speak to a stranger or a person he didnât feel connected to. Miroslav suffered from teasing and bullying which caused him to close himself off from the world even further, thus creating this neverending spiral. He found solace and peace in meditation. It allowed him to make a deeper connection with himself and people noticed the change. As time went on, people were more and more interested in his story, looking to learn what he has through the process of self-exploration.Through public speaking, Miroslav discovered a way of âactive meditationâ. He immersed himself fully into his gift and the more he perfected his crafts of speaking, teaching, and facilitating he kept opening up himself even more.He is known for his exploration of concepts such as Metafear as well as embodied speaking, teaching, and facilitating which we go through in much detail in our episode. Check out his TEDx talk on The Metafear Revolution here!Connect with Miroslav:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheMiroslavPetrovicLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/miroslav-petrovic-7bbb5474/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjiuBQU4G531OuclCtfVgAQ Website: http://www.miroslavp.com/In This Episode We Canvas:What Is Metafear?Miroslav breaks down the concept of Metafear and we dive straight into the pure essence of his teachings. Placing fear as the central concept for personal growth and development is an enchanting perspective to have and itâs already clear why people say that Miroslavâs talks, youâre able to hear a pin drop.âMetafear is essentially looking at fear as a gift that can transform who we are. And when we approach fear from this perspective, it stops being something we have to conquer or fight or win over, but it becomes an inspiration and a life source itself. And the only thing thatâs really changing, in one aspect, is the way weâre relating to and approaching it.â - Miroslav PetrovicHow Do We Face Fear?We often have these predefined situations in our head that vaguely represent to us the notion of facing fear. But itâs not really important if âswimming with sharks or âbase jumpingâ first comes to mind because, as Miroslav beautifully points out, that âitâs not about what it looks like itâs about what it feels likeâ. Itâs about the emotional process that we establish in relation to fear and finding a way of letting it flow through you.âFor me, itâs like, the small things⊠Like when you go for a dance and you can feel sometimes that your body is rigid and youâre dancing just to be like someone else. And then itâs like âHow does my body want to express itself?â. And then you feel that sense of âOh, thatâs a bit vulnerable!â To me, vulnerability is a sign that weâre embracing Metafear. Itâs just about embracing the habitual patterns we have and then finding your way through them.â - Miroslav PetrovicWhy Do We Meditate?Miroslavâs understands that the purpose of meditation is preparational to an extent. In a way, it is a tool that allows us to prepare our body for the intense experiences about to come. To him, itâs about ânoticing the resistance and then learning how to soften into itâ. A really inspiring perspective on such a popular concept in the realm of personal growth and improvement.âFor me, meditation is not the thing that you do with your eyes closed. Thatâs what it looks like from the outside. From the inside, it teaches you how to cultivate stillness, so things can move through you⊠And that for me is embodied presence. When we can let our minds and our emotions become still and we can use and move them through the body.â - Miroslav PetrovicStepping Into FearIn this part of our discussion, Miroslav explains what stepping into actually means for him. He elaborates on the relationship between embracing fear and inspiration. He shares that his personal experience came only recently in the past six months. This experience is, to an extent, often referred to in a religious context as stepping into the âdivine realmâ or even âfacing Godâ. Miroslav however, provides an explanation thatâs probably relatable to everyone.âWhen you step into fear⊠in my experience, it means youâre meeting the full potential of what youâre capable of. When you step into that realm, itâs like youâre so completely open to inspiration you yourself donât know whatâs coming next. Itâs like inspiration overload!â - Miroslav PetrovicThe Power of Public SpeakingThereâs an element of poetic justice and beauty in the fact that an extremely introverted, 4-year old boy grows up to be an amazing public speaker. Miroslav feels indebted to the craft and feels that it has given him so much. He believes itâs a transformational opportunity like no other, for everyone. That is why you can often see him bring people out on stage during his talks.âWhen you have living people with you that are open to seeing you, that is the most transformational thing you can experience, especially if you step into the space of Metafear, exposing a part of yourself thatâs never been seen. Thatâs instantly transformational!â - Miroslav PetrovicMiroslavâs Message of Inspired EvolutionI donât even know where to begin with this one because having Miroslav on the Inspired Evolution podcast was really a special experience for me personally. His openness and honesty are stunning and the way he allows himself to be vulnerable is just beautiful. Weâve talked a lot about Metafear, meditation, embodied presence all of which are concepts that help us elevate our being and existence. These are the tools and the mechanisms for âthe howâ, but as Miroslav points out, you yourself are the only one that has both the ability and the responsibility to act accordingly.âItâs your duty to fucking act⊠what happens after that is not in your control!â - Miroslav PetrovicSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/inspiredevolution. Our guest for this week is Zachariah Fisher, educator, visionary and founder of âPeace Guardiansâ.About ZachariahZachariah has always been drawn to mentorship and education. He recognizes that this desire to establish a connection through teaching and mentorship has followed him ever since he was a baby. His father tragically died in a helicopter accident when Zachariah was only 10 months old and he explains that is why he has always felt a gap in his heart. This yearning for connection and a âbig brotherâ approach to teaching led him on a path of coaching youth sports. Ever since 2015, heâs been organizing educational, sporting and nature events for children. He realized he had found his calling and quit his corporate job in order to pursue his passion for inspiring youth around the world to follow their bliss.Later that year, he founded âPeace Guardiansâ, a holistic peace education movement that provides opportunities for children and youth to learn, grow and develop leadership skills. The organization was founded on the shared vision of certified youth educators, parents, community leaders, entrepreneurs and artists coming together to empower our future generations. Their mission is to provide world-class training, tools, and support for future leaders so they can become ambassadors of peace for themselves, their communities, and the world.Theyâre currently running a GoFundMe Campaign so if you want to contribute to youth development feel free to check out their page here!Zachariah has also invented a sport called KinFlow which fuses mindfulness and fitness. It inspires collaboration, develops teamwork skills and itâs an ideal activity for young, developing minds.Connect with Zachariah:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SpiritDanceLA?ref=br_rsInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/zachariahfisher/Website: https://peaceguardians.org/In This Episode We Canvas:Making a "Choiceless Choice"We ease into our conversation by going over Zachariahâs shift from living the corporate life in sales to discovering his purpose in educating children. When you make out what your lifeâs calling is, you will inevitably be drawn to it in a natural way, both organic and energetic. To an extent, deciding to follow your one true passion in life a âchoiceless choiceâ which also has elements of âtaking the leapâ and âletting goâ.âWhen something becomes a very clear signal thatâs undeniable, your entire being is moving in that direction, then you have to follow that! To create a life around that! To me⊠first, it was like, hope and then it became faith and then it became trust and then it became knowing.â - Zachariah FisherReexamining Your Mindset to Overcome ChallengesRecalling the words of Einstein on the relationship between problem-solving and mindset, Zachariah exposes one of the underlying mechanisms of personal progress.âMy way, is it bringing me fulfillment? Is it bringing me happiness? Is it uplifting others around me? And if the answer is no, then itâs really, going back to the drawing board and erasing the drawing board. Unwinding and unlearning⊠The keywords here are humility, vulnerability, listening, surrender, action.â - Zachariah FisherWhy Are Children Our Best Teachers?Zachariah opens up to us about one of the most rewarding aspects of working with and educating children. Children are constant reminders of how we need to approach exploring the world around us. We dive deep into the values of non-linear, divergent thinking and organic learning.âChildren are the teachers for me. For me in particular, theyâre really my guru in many ways. Because they move about the world organically, through play⊠Even Einstein had thought experiments, those non-linear thought forms that just pierce through the veil of linear thinking so it does require just a real, open mind of wonder, curiosity, and awe.â - Zachariah FisherThe Universal Nature of CreativityCan people truly be uncreative? Weâve all had that discussion and Iâm sure youâve met someone claiming that they donât have a creative bone in their body. Zachariah argues that creativity an innate capacity embedded in all of humanity. Some might forget they have the gift but a part of the journey is figuring out the things that actually bring our creative potential to the surface.âWe are all born creative. Weâve come out and weâre just natural explorers⊠We all have our own unique curiosities and gifts. One of the reasons why Iâm passionate about working with children is because you have a real opportunity in those formidable years to have them feel confidence and anchor in that creativity for their lifetime.â - Zachariah FisherThe Relationship Between Play and FlowWe started discussing flow and it was a very humbling experience to find how much Zachariah enjoyed our episode with Steven Kotler. As a fan of flow, Zachariah explains why he thinks it can and should be one of the focal points of discussion when weâre considering the education of our children.âIâm so fascinated by flow⊠The prefrontal cortex goes radio silent, we donât measure time in the same fashion, we donât measure our self-identity⊠and from that place, all magic occurs⊠Itâs literally a different perception of reality when youâre in flow and children in play are a perfect embodiment of flow. A creative child is a child in flow.â - Zachariah FisherInventing the Sport Called KinFlowZachariah goes over what inspired him to develop a sport that would provide children with a new and exciting experience while creating an opportunity for them to develop both physically and mentally with a focus on collaboration rather than competition.âOver time and repetition, a polished game was created⊠To me, the whole essence of it was âHow do we keep flow as the pedestal?â, as the measurable outcome as compared to âI won, you lost, Iâm better, youâre worseâ, hyper-competition, old paradigm thinking⊠â - Zachariah FisherLearning and Growing from PainWe discuss the aspect of pain and experiencing adverse situations that contain the potential for personal growth. Even though itâs common sense that we should tend to avoid pain and suffering, itâs painfully obvious that itâs not something we can do for an entire lifetime. Itâs important to reframe these experiences and accept that they are important to us when considering the bigger picture. Their value lies in the fact that adverse situations along with the pain that they cause us, are valuable opportunities to better ourselves.âPain is our greatest teacher in many ways⊠You see this quite a bit as people have a traumatic experience as a youth and then⊠their purpose in life is to help others not experience that. Ultimately I think thatâs what makes a hero. Itâs somebody that knows that their life isnât just about them and is using their pain as fuel to help others.â - Zachariah FisherZachariahâs Message of Inspired EvolutionThe opportunity to talk to people who have discovered their purpose and are wholeheartedly pursuing it is one of many gifts the Inspired Evolution podcast has given me. Zachariah is all in and Iâm absolutely inspired by his work. Raising the next generation of leaders is a noble cause to dedicate your life to, and Iâm just so glad that he went for it because you can tell itâs his greatest passion. I truly hope his story will inspire others to pursue their passion as well.âAs long as youâre connected to your drive and your passion⊠you donât have to have the whole picture figured out.â - Zachariah FisherSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/inspiredevolution. Understanding that you actually can make a difference is an amazing foundation to have if you truly want and intend to do good.âEveryone can make a difference, no one is left out. Everyone can change the world in their own way wherever they are, through whatever cause theyâre passionate about.â - Cassidy MurrayThe Advantages of Youth ActivismAs we go through the stories of their humanitarian work with refugees, they provide us with both insight and examples of why youth activism is so important. The relationship that weâre establishing with our teachers shapes the education process and weâre more likely to connect with our peers because weâre joined by the things we have in common.âWe realized we ended up helping the kids more than the actual teachers that came in before us because we were so connected with the youth and because they had fun learning. And they had that emotion attached to that learning so it just stuck in their brains and they loved it!â - Cassidy MurrayEnabling Empowered EducationThe approach Kaitlin and Cassidy are using is based on empowerment. Through some amazing stories about encouraging other youths to express and go after their hopes and dreams, we learn first hand about its importance and educational value.âThey told us their story. And so we got to, almost, help them process it and they got to tell us and share their emotions with us and although it was hard sometimes I think it was also helpful because from there they could say âThat was my past and now Iâm going to build this amazing future!â... We started enabling that a bit and that was amazing! I think thatâs a big part of education - itâs the empowerment!â - Kaitlin MurrayAspiring Towards Life-Long LearningKaitlin and Cassidy have traveled to over 90 countries which is a heroic achievement in itself. But the true inspiration comes from the way they acquire and absorb knowledge through interacting with people coming from different backgrounds and cultures. Their self-made curriculum is truly something to consider in our efforts to establish a practice of life-long learning.âYou donât have to just have your standard education⊠You can learn your entire life and keep on learning from different people. Because there are all these opportunities to learn something more in your life.â - Cassidy MurrayProtecting Yourself from Emotional BurnoutHumanitarian work is inspiring and fulfilling but can get quite overwhelming at times. Both Kaitlin and Cassidy have experienced dips in energy after lengthy periods of volunteering and have drawn lessons from it in order to prevent emotional burnout. Itâs all about filling our cup first and their story is an absolutely perfect example.âWe went to that point where we had to step away. And so we had to take our time, just be with ourselves and we went through a lot⊠We werenât giving our time taking that time to self-care and replenish our energy. So now we do that⊠I meditate all the time, just to clear that energy.â - Kaitlin MurrayBreaking Stereotypes In Your CommunityWorking with people from other cultures is going to make you more sensitive to the potential stereotypes related to a particular group of people or culture. But the wonderful stories that we gain from multicultural settings about friendship, compassion, and love are truly the best way to dissolve these misconceptions still widely present all over the world. Kaitlin and Cassidy have recognized the need to share their stories in order to reduce cognitive biases still present in todayâs society.âWeâre connecting with these people that are labeled in a wrong way and weâre the only ones, letâs say, out of our family or our friend group or our social group that know this so now we feel like we have a responsibility⊠A lot of that is in sharing the true stories and weâre so grateful that so many times weâll hear people that after us telling the stories, especially about the Middle East, theyâll be like âThank you so much, I had no idea!ââ - Kaitlin MurrayKaitlinâs and Cassidyâs Message of Inspired EvolutionThis conversation filled me with so much hope that I cannot even put it into words! I am completely in awe of their emotional development and if you read some of these quotes out of context I bet you wouldnât be able to fathom how young they actually are. Which only suggests we can expect an abundance of new stories! Their proactive attitude towards changing the world is breathtaking. If the world keeps gifting us people like them - we have nothing to worry about! âNo one is unqualified when it comes to serving humanity - Kaitlin and Cassidy MurraySupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/inspiredevolution. IE089 Amy OâMeara: Crafting a Life Meant Living: The Art of Personal Transformation
Our guest for this week is Amy OâMeara, life coach, educator, author, and CEO of âLife Meant Internationalâ.About AmyAround 7 years ago, Amy had gone through some significant changes in her life. A bad break up, followed by some of her closest friends moving away had left her feeling lost and alone. Having lost her support system, Amy went on to explore the ideas of self-growth and self-development. It was in November 2013 when she came upon a Ted Talk by Ian Usher where she first learned about the idea of âselling your life for a new oneâ.In the midst of trying to discover the life she was meant to live, her own personal brand was born. By founding Life Meant, Amy took on a mission to make a change in the world by empowering the lives of women and children across the globe. Six years after, Amy has traveled to 25 countries, taught and lived internationally, and become an internationally recognized educator, trainer, and speaker. She also published a self-help book called âLetters to a J.E.R.K.â. A collection of practical advice and personal experiences, Amy aims to empower women all over the world and how to let go of fear and self-doubt. It is a guide that will show you how to identify difficult emotions, process them, and transform yourself to live your Life Meant.Connect with Amy:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lifemeant/Twitter: https://twitter.com/lifemeant Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/amy_lifemeant/Website: https://www.lifemeant.com/In This Episode We Canvas:Starting SomewhereAt the beginning of our conversation, Amy reveals details about how exactly her transformation went down. What caused it, the context, how she came up with the inspiration to change⊠But ultimately we get down to one of the key tips residing in her message. The encouragement to dive into action even if you donât feel like you have everything figured out.âEven if you donât know a lot... just start somewhere! You donât have to know everything about diving deep into the core of who you are.â - Amy OâMearaFree Range EducationWe talked about some of the founding principles of the free-range education theory. Amy developed an inclination for this modern approach while she was teaching abroad. She fell in love with the idea because it allowed her to âdream bigâ and reconceptualize her role as an educator.âIt really shifted who I was as an educator which dove me deep into the personal growth, coaching⊠Thatâs when I started becoming a coach and said, âOkay, how can I use coaching language with children?â This is an amazing gift because Iâm their guide and facilitator, Iâm not their dictator! - Amy OâMearaUsing Coaching Language to Educate ChildrenAmy noticed in her teaching sessions with young children that they were actually bogged down by the same insecurities and challenges we would usually connect with the situations of adults. She recognized the notion of âIâm not enoughâ in children as young as nine! It was this discovery that eventually inspired her to add coaching language to her approach of educating children. All with a clear goal in mind - to encourage the development of emotional intelligence.âWeâre developing their EQ and we need to really pay close attention to the word choice that weâre using. And thatâs why Iâve developed that coaching language with the kids because when we are using coaching language weâre holding space for them to grow. Grow emotionally.â - Amy OâMearaThe Value of Being Able to Trust YourselfWe go all-in on the concept of trust and Amyâs philosophy is so empowering because she is guiding back to focus on the way we treat ourselves. The relationship we have with ourselves. By doing so, she reminds us that power is always within ourselves and subliminally encourages us to take action.âWhen we dive into trust and communication one of the things that we have to be very careful of is the lies we tell ourselves⊠Trust starts with you. Trust of yourself is the very first key. If you canât trust yourself, how are you going to show up in a relationship and be trusting of other people?â - Amy OâMearaThe 4 Steps of Making a Relationship Agreement with YourselfAmy shares her teachings on making a relationship agreement with yourself. She was inspired by a scene from a very popular TV show and youâll have to listen to the podcast to find out more because thereâs no way weâll be spoiling that one here!Anyway⊠Her idea is founded on 4 basic steps that each of us should define and understand prior to opening ourselves to a new relationship.âIt starts with your non-negotiables.â - Amy OâMearaThe first step concerns things that we are not ready to step away from. These lie at the core of our values and represent our âline in the sandâ.âThe second part is self-love.â - Amy OâMearaOnce weâve defined our non-negotiables, we can then move on to explore the relationship that we have with ourselves. What kind of self-talk are we using? Are we treating ourselves positively and if not, why? Are we taking active steps to improve this? Answering these questions will help us identify the key changes we need to make in order to love and support ourselves more.âThe third thing is self-development.â - Amy OâMearaWe know what our values are, weâve defined ways to improve our self-love and now itâs time to think about other ways we can improve. Self-development is key according to Amy and we need to adopt the best practices so that we can live the lives we were truly meant to live.âThe last and final thing is... a support team.â - Amy OâMearaAnd finally, having a clear and defined support system in mind is the best way to preserve mental health. Knowing who are the people in your life you can always rely on will never let you fall off your path and will also quickly nudge you in the right direction when you get lost. The power is within and we need to do everything ourselves but being guided by those who have faced similar issues can be a major advantage.Amyâs Message of Inspired EvolutionThis was such a fun and diverse conversation. Weâve covered all sorts of topics and I think we got a chance to explore some of the key points of Amyâs self-growth philosophy. Iâm really fascinated by how subtle she is in spreading the idea that we, ourselves, are in fact in control. But her enthusiasm for self-love is truly mesmerizing.âIâm starting a revolution of self-love!â - Amy OâMearaSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/inspiredevolution. Hosted on Acast. Their marketing goals are ambitious, which is understandable as they are trying to change the world! Jason gives us an insight into the approach Mindvalley uses to increase the reach of their message and make relevant partnerships and business connections.âIn the personal growth industry, there are two things that you want to look for. How impactful, structured, authentic amazing is what that person is delivering and second is how many people are they reaching? The fact is, we want to reach a billion lives so we look for people that already have audiences that are already attracted to the personal growth movement and we want to combine as much of this industry together so we can become one big platform that changes lives.â - Jason CampbellThe Role Purpose Plays in Personal DevelopmentWe explore the concept of purpose, highlighting its value and contribution to personal development. Jason proposes an elegant analogy to describe the true purpose of purpose.âThe purpose kind of seems like setting your north star, right? But the point isnât to get to that star, itâs to sail the sea.â - Jason CampbellIs Repetition of Themes Good for the Personal Growth Movement?Since joining Mindvalley, Jason has been constantly surrounded by thought leaders in the personal growth industry. Having done over 40 in-depth interviews with some of the most renowned experts from this field, he started picking up patterns in their narrative. He realized that certain themes are repeated and that there are certain similarities between seemingly different schools of thought. Still, he understands that this is not an anomaly but rather a necessity that works in favor of those trying to learn, grow, and evolve.âI think that repetition IS necessary⊠Everybody has a different way of trying to achieve the same thing and thatâs OK because everybody resonates with a different thing... Once youâve found something that resonated with you⊠do something about it. And then if you feel stuck, go back and listen to someone saying probably the same thing in a different way and maybe thatâs what you need to hear.â - Jason CampbellSales as an Expression of LoveWeâve mentioned before that Jason really, really loves to sell and in this conversation, you will hear just why that is. Heâs spent a lot of time honing his craft by taking in concepts from the personal growth industry and refining his personal theory of sales. Jason offers a new way for us to interpret the selling process, one that is built around the potential for doing good.âWhen I say âselling from loveâ I say, first off, letâs take away the charge of sales. I say sales is an energy exchange... You will offer something in exchange for money but thereâs another piece of currency that goes into it which is the emotion, the vibration. And for those who love incorporating business and spirituality, this is where it becomes beautiful. â - Jason CampbellThe Essential Components of Selling from LoveIn his inspired model of selling from love, Jason goes over 3 key principles which will help you reinvent yourself in how you approach selling your product or service. The first one is self-love.âYouâve got to be very strong about who you are, what you stand for, and then, when you do that, youâll understand that youâve aligned yourself with something to sell that you truly believe in.â - Jason CampbellThe second principle highlights the importance of perfecting your product.âI encourage people to adapt is âIf the product doesnât fit the needs, fix the product.ââ - Jason CampbellFinally, he sums up the last principle in three simple words.âLove the stakeholder." - Jason CampbellHow Abundance Inspires LoveAs we drew our conversation to a close, Jason inspired us with his understanding of the connection between abundance and love. He explains in much detail the journey every salesperson should experience which is centered around inspiring love from abundance.âThe first need you need to satisfy is your own⊠If you have a bit more abundance you start realizing âHey! Itâs not just about me, itâs about the entire company.â... A major threshold here is when it becomes about the client that youâre selling to. When you start selling to that client you genuinely care and love the person youâre selling to, you will only sell to them when you genuinely understand that whatever it is that youâre selling them is worth more than what youâre asking in return. Do you know what balances out the equation? Love!â - Jason CampbellJasonâs Message of Inspired EvolutionIâm captivated by Jasonâs musings on the process of selling. But another thing that caught my ear is how he impresses with his understanding of major obstacles people trying to improve their life and well-being are usually faced with. At one point in the conversation, weâve touched on hesitation and I hope his little improvised pep-talk is just the right message of support you needed to hear today. Much love!âPick something, make a decision, figure it out, go!â - Jason CampbellSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/inspiredevolution. Hosted on Acast. That is why he is determined to help other entrepreneurs get to the next step in their business. Daniel's mission is to empower executives to become better leaders, all the while teaching them how to successfully scale their companies and maintain a high quality of life.In 2012, Daniel co-founded the âGrowth Instituteâ, which is the leading online executive education company for C-level executives at fast-growing firms. Personal lives and family time are always one of the first aspects of an entrepreneurâs life that suffer whenever a company is going through a challenging period.âItâs very often, when youâre scaling, your family life gets into trouble⊠Youâre tired, youâre overworked and you bring all of that drama to your family.â - Daniel Marcos The âFreedom Paradoxâ of Entrepreneurshipï»żBased on the insights from his coaching career, Daniel suggests that one of the main reasons why people prefer running their own business is because it gives them more freedom. Paradoxically enough, in real-life cases, Daniel argues that the process of building a company goes directly against that notion.âWhen you ask any entrepreneur why are they building a company⊠you always come to one word - freedom. Usually, when you build a company, the one thing that you lose the most is freedom.â - Daniel MarcosThe Benefits of Basing Your Business Strategy on DataIn this section of our conversation, Daniel provides arguments and explains why basing your company strategy on data is essential for the success of any business. We explore all the ways in which your company benefits from utilizing a data-driven approach.âWhenever you have data and you produce data in your company, you cannot hide from data. Data tells you the truth!â - Daniel Marcos How to Give Negative FeedbackThe role of every CEO requires the ability to provide their staff with information and instructions on what needs to be improved or done differently. Daniel shares his thoughts on what you should and shouldnât do when providing others with negative feedback.âYou attack the outcome or the situation, you donât attack the person.â - Daniel MarcosThe Key Stages of Company GrowthAs we explore the topic of scaling up further, Daniel proposes a 4-stage model for analyzing and understanding the different growth periods of any company.âI call them the Startup, the Grow up, the Scale-up and then you Dominate your industry.â - Daniel MarcosThe Ideal Role Every CEO Should Strive TowardsThe role of the CEO changes over time and we go a little deeper into what that role should look like at the fourth and final stage of company development.âThe role in the last stage⊠You become like a satellite around your organization and the day-to-day runs without you⊠You come as the strategic innovator, change catalyst, and chief of culture.â - Daniel MarcosThe Importance of Having the Right TeamAs we near the end of our conversation, Daniel takes us into the 4 most important decisions every CEO needs to make. The key element you need to establish before scaling your business is to assemble the right team of professionals that will help your business grow.âIf you donât have the right team, itâs impossible to scale your company. You can have all the money in the world, you can have the best strategy⊠If you donât have the right team - nothing works!â - Daniel MarcosWhy Drops in Revenue are a Symptom, Not a SicknessIn terms of developing a business, Daniel considers âcashâ to be a great source of data which indicates whether or not youâve made the right decisions along the way. If youâve made any mistakes in the previous steps, they will surely be reflected in your revenue and profits.âCash is a symptom. Cash is not a sickness⊠Cash is not a problem. Cash is a reflection of your problems.â - Daniel MarcosDanielâs Message of Inspired EvolutionIâve really enjoyed the way our conversation turned out to be an hour-long masterclass on business scaling and growth. Danielâs vast experience colors every single topic weâve touched on and provides sustenance to his theories and arguments. The most inspiring note of his coaching approach seems to be the proactive attitude that Daniel both owns and instills in others. Being a good leader means youâre able to take action and thereâs a lot you can do to ensure your business will be able to compete, grow, and improve over time.âDonât just do a company. Do a great company! Play to win, donât play not to lose. Do it right!â - Daniel MarcosSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/inspiredevolution. Hosted on Acast. Even when he was working with US Olympic athletes and coaches who were at the very peak of their field, he realized there was little to no room for fulfillment in their definitions of success.âWhen are we going to start talking about success as fulfillment? Itâs just not a thing. Itâs very rare.â - Skip KellyWhat Does It Mean to Be a Fulfillionaire?Skip has discovered a term that sums up his current point of interest he wishes to invest his energy into. The term âfulfillionaireâ is an awesome way to describe what we should all strive towards becoming. It highlights both the importance of fulfillment for living a healthy life while also establishing a financial connotation.âI think the core part of âfulfillionaireâ and why I think that title is appropriate is it alludes to âmillionaire, billionaireâŠâ and how important money is to a fulfilling life. Itâs not so much about rolling in hundreds but it is about not having real problems. Real problems being: shelter, food, safetyâŠâ - Skip KellyShould We Seek Happiness or Fulfillment? We went on to explore the relationship between happiness and fulfillment and Skip shares his thoughts on the key distinctions between seeking happiness and fulfillment. He used to think of himself to be a great supporter of having happiness as the main goal in life. But he recently shifted towards fulfillment as he found it to be more valuable and he explains why.âHappiness comes from acceptance but growth comes from change. If you can just accept where you are, youâll be happy⊠You can be happy in any circumstance. The question is âare you fulfilled by just being happy?ââ - Skip KellyFinding Your Purpose In Your Existential StrugglesSkip shares with us a great mind experiment which has a purpose to provide us with insight into whatâs truly important to us; what really moves us. By examining the existential struggles youâve faced in your life, you can dig around to find the real jewels which are the things that move and inspire you most in life. The key to living a fulfilled life is to choose to spend your time engaging in activities that fulfill you.âItâs kind of like a âChoose Your Own Adventureâ success game.â - Skip KellyThe Value of Identifying with Characters in StoriesAnother strategy for discovering what we truly value in life is to pay attention to what makes us identify with characters in stories. Whether weâre consuming them through movies, books or video games, stories provide us with a context where characters get to depict behaviors, attitudes, and values. If they align with our own values, then weâre more likely to identify with those characters over others. Skip sees this as an opportunity to both recognize and remind ourselves of what we hold in high regard in life.âThe more you can appreciate these characters in life the more you can start to realize what inspires you and who you want to show up as on a day to day basis.â - Skip KellyHow to Fight LonelinessSkip draws from his own experiences in dealing with loneliness. He recognizes that being simply surrounded by other people will not help you feel less lonely because the feeling isnât simply caused by lack of physical proximity to others. Skip argues that in order to truly overcome loneliness, we must understand that the feeling itself is not helpful to us.âYou feeling lonely is just you feeling lonely. Itâs not the actual thing⊠By connecting to other people, knowing that they feel lonely and helping them feel less alone, you will feel less alone.â - Skip KellySkipâs Message of Inspired EvolutionI always enjoy having people back on the podcast and having a chance to catch up with Skip was a real blessing. I think our conversation covered some amazing topics regarding fulfillment. I think Skip gave us some great arguments why itâs a great concept to consider on the road to transformation and living a better life. He argued the case for fulfillment beautifully and one of the key things that really stuck with me is how he, at one point, managed to draw a hopeful message from a very nihilistic premise. The only thing left to say in response is âwhy not?:âWeâre all just floating on a giant rock in space, maybe in a computer simulation. So really, how important is it that you live up to your âpotentialâ? And at the same time, whatever you do doesnât matter and so why not do the things that inspire you and fulfill you?â - Skip KellySupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/inspiredevolution.
