Romans 8:17 — The urgent problem for the Christian faith in times past and still today is to reconcile trials, tribulations, and suffering with the exceeding great promises of glory that await the children of God. But how can they be sure of this inheritance? Christians are used to promises broken by sinful people and hopes dashed by circumstances beyond their control. Romans 8:16 — What does one do with excesses related to the Holy Spirit? Many Christians are wary of any emphasis on the experience of the Spirit.
